MPP Hardeep Grewal billed taxpayers $27,000 for downtown Toronto hotels. Now we've learned he was also spending your tax dollars on ads in a newspaper owned by his own father.
Your money. His family's business.
Today I asked the Integrity Commissioner to investigate. If Grewal's family is profiting from public dollars, the people deserve to know.
Doug Ford sets the tone for his caucus. His MPPs fund their lifestyles with your money and keep his confidence. What else can you expect from a Premier who tried to buy himself a private jet on your dime?
Keep at him. In fact, go after him harder. If he's "terse" that means you're getting to him
He has a temper. He's arrogant. And when you come with receipts he loses it
On Friday, Stan Cho said he "did not stop to ask how it would look to a person in my riding working a double shift."
Today we learned it wasn't just $16,000 in hotels. It was nearly $100,000 more in steak dinners, Blue Jays suites and limousines, billed to his riding association, every receipt filed as a "meeting."
He never stopped.
This is the culture Doug Ford built. A Premier who wanted a $30 million private jet for himself has no standard to hold his ministers to, and they know it.
The people funding all of this are working the double shifts Stan Cho only mentions on the way out the door.
To everyone who has supported the PC Party with their donation or their vote: you gave them your trust and your money. They spent both on themselves.
You deserve better. I hope I can earn your trust to deliver an NDP government that respects taxpayers and makes your life more affordable.
@observinthecity Stan Cho spent more on a hotel room for one single night than Doug Ford is giving Ontario teachers to busy supplies for an entire school year.
Hotel rooms > Classrooms in Fordnation.
Can media in Ontario look into Ford’s relationship with foreign owned Tim Horton’s? Why is he shilling for them during emergencies instead of informing people in a timely way? First covid now forest fire air crisis? Do his pals own it? This is beyond fucked up. #Onpoli#Cndpoli
The federal government has been waiting days for this request to be made. Communities are suffering because of this late response. This is what happens when you prioritize speed cameras, FOI changes and buying a private jet. Totally irresponsible.
I live in Northwestern Ontario. Right now, the Boreal forest is burning.
I'm writing this beneath the dark orange plume from the Quetico wildfires.
These are some of the reports coming out as communities fight to survive:
"No fire crews left for new fires."
"We had no warning."
Families are self-evacuating by private boat across lakes because they didn't receive evacuation information. They're fleeing towering flames with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
This is unacceptable in a province as wealthy as Ontario.
I'm calling out Doug Ford. His government has underfunded Ontario's wildfire management capacity by tens of millions of dollars.
@fordnation you want our Ring of Fire, our water, our forests. You want to store nuclear waste in our bedrock and run an oil pipeline through our watersheds.
But you won't work with northern communities. You make decisions for us without us, and then fail to provide the basic public services we PAY FOR and rely on: wildfire protection, health care, education, safe highways and social services.
Northern Ontario deserves better than this feckless leadership.

You know, I wasn't going to snark on this, but you need an education.
Please, let's review who signed Canada up to spend $6.4 billion on the Gordie Howe International Bridge without any guarantee of when, or even if, we'd recover the investment.
It wasn't Mark Carney.
The agreement was negotiated and signed under Stephen Harper's Conservative government. Canada agreed to finance construction because the Michigan Legislature refused to appropriate the money. In exchange, Canada receives the toll revenue until its costs are recovered.
That wasn't being "taken to the cleaners." It was the only way to break the decades-long monopoly of the privately owned Ambassador Bridge, which handled roughly a quarter of all Canada–U.S. trade and had become a strategic bottleneck.
Today, Canada has a modern publicly owned international crossing that strengthens supply chains, improves border resilience, creates economic growth on both sides of the border, and generates toll revenue over time.
If you're going to criticize the deal, at least criticize the government that made it. Conservatives negotiated it. Conservatives signed it. Conservatives defended it.
Facts matter more than campaign sound bites.
BTW Pierre, this is why you lost the election. This is why you'll continue to lose.
Doug Ford is going to hate this video. All of it. 🎵
A reggae song about Ford Fest, his 21% approval, and that's just the start.

Doug Ford spent 112 MILLION TAXPAYER DOLLARS on self-congratulatory ads.
WHAT THEY COULD HAVE BOUGHT:
· Support for 15,000 SENIORS for a YEAR
· 125 MRI scanners
· FINANCIAL AID for 31,000 Ontario students

Last time I checked we elected the Federal Liberals to run Canada for us. At no time did anyhone in Ontario or Canada elected a Premier Fuddle Duddle to be discussing Canada's foreign policy with MAGA representatives of Trump. FORD needs to stay in his lane.
