@petekillingley@BinscombeChurch LET GO, sometimes you need to know when to let go and allow all parties to move on, doesn't mean forgetting injustices received but it does mean leaving judgement to the Lord.
@steve_kneale @liambeadle The bishops have to argue they are not for blessing SS relationships because that contradicts Anglican doctrine as it stands, the conservatives want to believe the same because such a break demands a response few are prepared for emotionally, spiritually, financially, etc
@steve_kneale @liambeadle Agreed, and for the sake of honesty and integrity it would be better for all to agree these are prayers for blessing Same Sex Relationships and then move on to if that is a good or bad thing; and whether such blessings are consistent with Anglican doctrine.
@steve_kneale @liambeadle And, I'd argue that once you accept that these are prayers for the blessing of SS couples you are implicitly acknowledging that these are prayers for blessing SS relationships.
@steve_kneale @liambeadle What's sadly not surprising is how quickly the language has moved on to 'prayers and services' and 'welcoming and affirming' https://t.co/wRYxLcjWwj
@steve_kneale @liambeadle It's a carefully crafted position to enable the blessing of SS couples whilst at the same time allowing for the denial that SS relationships are being blessed.
@liambeadle @steve_kneale What makes a wedding ring the symbol of a marriage? Its nothing intrinsic to the ring but the context in which it is received. These prayers scrupulously avoid blessing 'the relationship' per se, but the context they are created for is blessing SS couples / relationships.
@liambeadle @steve_kneale But these prayers are provided for use with same sex couples in the context of celebrating a significant moment in thee lives such as a civil partnership or wedding. The nature of the relationship is inferred from the use and context of the prayers, not their wording.
@RyanBurtonKing@gracewoodgreen Thank you for all you are doing, happy to support, our Christian brothers and sisters in Ukraine and through them those who are suffering.
