Really just a despicable, egregious misrepresentation of the motion. The motion recognises the Palestinian right to resist occupation. That is an absolute right under international law. This is nor controversial or hard to understand... except if you're trying not to understand
I would *love* an investigation by the EHRC into The Greens.
Because this time, unlike under Starmer when Labour literally colluded with the EHRC to find Corbyn's office guilty of offences he didn't commit, the Greens will hire proper lawyers. And they'll run rings around the mediocrities and political hacks who currently pass as EHRC Commissioners.
The EHRC doesn't even have a working definition of antisemitism. It explicitly acknowledges that IHRA definition is not legally binding. If the EHRC tried to adopt a definition that centred Israel or Zionism, or tried now to use the IHRA definitions, it would be torn to shreds.
Mainstream journalists are utterly ignorant of how the EHRC works or its underlying statutory provisions. A key statutory provision is that the EHRC is bound by findings of tribunals and the courts.
The tribunal judgment in the Prof David Miller case is a game-changer, and binds the EHRC. The tribunal found that anti-Zionism is a protected belief. It found that anti-Zionism is a cogent, coherent philosophy that holds that Zionism is racist and inevitably leads to the dispossesion of Palestinians. It found that anti-Zionism is a belief deserving of respect in our society.
So riddle me this: how is the EHRC going to investigate the Green Party for adopting a protected belief as Party policy? Not least because the motion explicitly has no implications for disciplinary proceedings - which was the heart of its investigation into the Labour Party.
Of course, the Commissioners at the EHRC, who are all political appointees made by the Minister for Equalities, might feel like investigating a party or movement they dislike (just look at this still serving EHRC Commissioner for Scotland: https://t.co/V1dzHg2dmM).
But if they do, it will open the door to reviewing and exposing the multiple absurd legal contortions and basic errors of fact in its report into the Labour Party.
And it will allow us to expose, once more, how prominent Labour figures like Angela Rayner repeatedly violated the EHRC's findings on political interference - a form of indirect discrimination.
So they might decide to put their fingers on the scale like they did many years ago. But it's not going to be like 2020. This time, they'll face people who actually care about the law, and know how to practice it.
@Hamza_a96 Enthno-religious supremacy, in the form of ethnic cleansing, land theft and murder - simply "self determination in their ancestral homeland", apparently. Well that's all right then.
You really have to wonder why journalists are spending time digging up random Green Party members instead of scrutinising the Labour candidate.
Two journalists have told me that Sagal's campaign have literally blocked her from being interviewed.
Voters have no idea what she believes in, what she will vote for, and what her actual record as a councillor is. And the media is showing zero interest in finding out.
Hi Dave!
Remember me? You refused to speak to me for my book, but maybe you'll answer some questions here.
So, speaking of conspiracies...
Can you explain why you boosted the astroturf Stop Funding Fake News campaign, launched by Morgan McSweeney and Imran Ahmed, but which hid their real identity?
You know, the campaign where they pretended to be grassroots activists, when they were funded by Labour Together and working out of their offices?
You know, the campaign where they attacked NUJ registered journalists with innuendo and smears because Morgan realised The Canary was making it hard for him to recapture the Labour Party, and destroyed their livelihoods?
Why did you tell a meeting in 2020 attended by Steve Reed, Trevor Chinn, Daniel Sugarman and Amanda Bowman that you'd seen "first hand" the good work Labour Together did fighting "antisemitism"? What did you "see" precisely? Must have been pretty spicy, seeing how Labour Together spent £30k trying to ruin my reputation for exposing Labour Together's secret projects and dodgy money.
What made you think that the SFFN campaign was so great you became a board member of CCDH, created out of SFFN, and which then hosted the SFFN campaign for years?
Do you have any comments on how CCDH directors in the US provided materially misleading information to the IRS to get charitable status?
Or do you think it's appropriate that CCDH's CEO was approaching the Israeli embassy in the US for funding after it produced a report demanding Meta censor pro-Palestinian Facebook groups?
And how do feel, after all of this, that CCDH is advising governments around the world on how to regulate social media, while effecting that you're just a bunch of neutral experts? And that CCDH still refuses to disclose any of its funding while doing so?
Because that all seems pretty conspiratorial to me.
Oh, and do you think it's appropriate that you, Director of Policy at a UK charity that claims to fight antisemitism and receives considerable government funding, appears to be calling a leading Jewish political figure a "crank" during a high-profile by-election they're contesting? Sounds like something the Charity Commission might want to hear about... maybe they will shortly?
Hi @Freedland
Conflating Israel with Jewry, as you consistently do, including here, is antisemitic.
Do you have any access to anti-racism training at your workplace?

BREAKING: US Sanctions have prevented us from fundraising for the Supreme Court challenge of the Palestine Action ban.
On the other hand, Andy Burnham's government have unlimited funds to defend the ban.
This is a clear attempt to sabotage our case.

Not parachuted in? Do you know nothing about local Labour politics?
Sagal was LITERALLY gifted her seat by the Starmerite bureaucracy after it blocked and stitched-up up a genuinely popular, left-wing Labour Councillor called Ranjit Singh.
They excluded Singh based on a factually incorrect Whip's report written by Camden Chief Whip at the time, who was revealed to be running a secret Twitter account pretending to be a mother of 3 from Primrose Hill... and using the account to criticise left-wing councillors and praise himself.
You have said repeatedly how important Gaza is to your politics... but Sagal and her colleagues suppressed protest on Gaza and blocked efforts for divestment from companies complicit in genocide.
Facile, silly stuff.
@DaleVince@UKLabour@Sagal_AW Dude, you're out of your mind. Given the political positions you advocate (which I support for the most part), your support for the Labour party is bizarre. I can only think you have zero political understanding of our electoral system.
This is a low even for the Mail . Note this line "Almost certainly, in common with all Jewish families, there will have been members of Mr Polanski's wider family who were persecuted in the Holocaust. But it is unclear who he was referring to when he told the story of his ancestors fleeing the Nazis."
So what's the point of this article? It is designed to say Zack Polanski has invented a story that members of his family were persecuted by the Nazis but then says the issue is its not clear who precisely he was talking about. The intent is to discredit him despite knowing he is likely to have family who were persecuted and knowing this story will uneash a torrent of antisemitism against him.( Check some of tbe grotesque comments in the replies).
The deeper message is that the experience of the Holocaust should only generate sympathy for Jews who' s politics the Mail approves. In particular, one suspects, if you are an antizionist Jew as Zack is, then you and your family history, dont count. Foul.
The two figures on the far right of this picture (of Camden councillors celebrating Keir Starmer) are Liam Martin-Lane and Izzy Lenga.
Izzy Lenga, previously pictured in a Israeli army uniform, is particularly close to Sagal Abdi-Wali, Labour candidate for Holborn& St Pancras. Lenga was the formal nominator who nominated Abdi-Wali to become leader of Camden Council. At the time Lenga was the vice-Chair of the pro-Israel Jewish Labour Movement.
Martin-Lane, Abdi-Wali and Lenga were all selected as Council candidates by the Labour Party in 2022 by the Starmerite machinery that was simultaneously blocking genuinely popular left-wing councillors. Lenga was given the candidacy for Swiss Cottage only after councillor Leo Cassarani was blocked for trying to ensure new developments properly took care of potentially displaced businesses via a "call-in" process. Two other councillors from the ward refuse to stand in solidarity.
In August this year, Martin-Lane (who chaired) and Izzy Lenga sat on a Planning Approval Committee meeting dominated by the Labour Group. The Committee approved a request from developer Landsec to reduce the number of affordable houses being built in a mega-development on Finchley Road from 35% to 20%. That will slash the number of affordable houses by about 150 units. Landsec made profits of £300m last year.
The approval was granted despite the desperate pleas of the Fortune Green and West Hampstead Neighbourhood Forum.
If you live in Camden and in a few years time, you're wondering where the affordable housing went... you can start here.
Deproscibe Palestine Action and free all their prisoners, then
Yes, they got it right - and are rotting in British cells for 23 hours a day because of it
We need immediate action. Not more weasel words
Nigel Farage didn't wait for the facts. The moment the suspects were bailed, he pounced: "two-tier policing," he cried, likening it to Daniel Thomas slashing a boat full of emergency workers.
Then the truth came out. No explosives.
This is the man who wants to be Prime Minister. He jumps to conclusions and stokes fear before the facts are in. It's amateur, dangerous and desperate.
£72m from two crypto billionaires can't buy him credibility. His agenda is clear, and it runs on hate.
Huge thank you to everyone who told me today they've got a refund for conference or are going to vote online and join us on the streets campaigning.
The energy is amazing and we can win this election. But we need your help. Join us in making history:

Labour already have a huge majority.
Another Labour MP putting Thames Water "on notice" isn't going to lower our water bills or protect our rivers.
Nationalise Thames Water.
Vote Green on October 8th. 💚
