The only thing sad about Simone Biles standing up for trans athletes is the fact that, with just two tweets, she’s shown more integrity and leadership on this issue than most House Democrats.
@ElieNYC I am sorry. I thought @RepJamesClyburn was wrong when he said that we would not elect a woman or another black person so we had to go with Biden. He was right. I was looking forward to Kamala Harris's presidency. I let myself hope. I still want to read your next book.
@ElieNYC@esglaude Yes, I finally see it. No sarcasm. I want to change it, but I don't know how. My mother was fierce in telling us all people are created equal and doing her best to show that she believed it. I have taught my children the same. It is not enough
@ElieNYC I liked this to show that I think you are right and not because I approve of what happened in any way. You had me convinced that Harris would make a good president before she became the nominee. I was excited to vote for her. I should learn to never hope
@RachelBitecofer Agree, but not just on retribution grounds.
It is clear to me that some things are never going to change unless Republicans do it first, in their own interests, because the Democratic party remains hung up on ceremony.
Killing the filibuster is one of those things.
@ElieNYC I'm learning James Clyburn was right about how American votes. Part of the problem is we don't want to see the racism and misogyny in those we think are on our own side. And the racists and the misogynists just need to not participate to let racism triumph.
Racisms always hurts everbody. It hurts the targets most, but it hurts everyone else too. This election went to Trump because of racism (and a side of misogyny) on both sides of the electorate. We are about to find out how much racism hurts everyone.
Wow. Working class Nebraska Senate candidate Dan Osborn (who is leading against MAGA Deb Fischer) pulled his car over to help someone change their truck tire.
How’s that for a closing message?
