It’s been days and I still don’t get the confusion most people have with Percy being given 4 pearls because if he loses 1 it’s his failure that keeps them from saving what matters most not Poseidon’s for giving Percy the wrong amount of pearls

I’ve been wanting to say this for a few days now, but when you get to the second episode I want you to pay attention to a certain element they added that I REALLY like, and that’s the emphasis on glory. Glory was a huge aspect of the myths in general and I really like how they’re weaving that into the plot.

It makes so much sense why Clarisse hates percy. It’s a competition, almost. Who can get the most glory and here comes this twelve year old who “cheated” and she’s pissed. She thinks he’s a fraud. Then there’s luke, who has glory. He’s the best swordsman in camp. But that glory was sort of smeared by that failed quest that Hermes sent him on. He felt alone. He felt angry. And no one cared. All the gods care about is glory.

Annabeth wants glory because she wants to prove herself. She knows that she can. She KNOWS that she can fight. And so she’s waiting on that chance and she has been waiting on that chance forever, with each and every new camper that comes past that border

Then you have Percy, who wants glory. Not because he wants to be known. Not because he wants to make a name for himself. Because he wants to talk to his dad. He thinks his mom is dead and he wants to talk to the deadbeat that dragged him into this because he is SALLY JACKSON’S son. That’s so true to his character because he is NOT the gods pawns. And he’s GOING to talk to his dad. Other than that, he just wants friends. He wants to be happy. He wants to feel normal and stable.

I really like this glory aspect. It really smoothes out a lot of the wrinkles in the plot and connects it together in what I feel like is the most satisfying way
