@robbystarbuck The reality is that somewhere along the way, teachers stopped being held up in our society. It stopped being a good paying job. Of course the best headed elsewhere. It's actually quite sad.
Good Morning,
Please join me for a daily scripture break.
I Corinthians 16:13:
"Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.”
This is such an inspirational verse. I'm reminded of Joshua 1:8 and Ephesians 6:10-18; this verse actually feels like a call to battle. Today we will examine the concept of "being on your guard.” What does it mean to guard something? Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the word "guard" as "a defensive state or attitude" or "the act or duty of protecting or defending." Being on your guard requires action with an underlying assumption that something valuable should be protected. This is what we will discover in the verses below.
Here's a compilation of applicable verses which we are called to either "be on guard" or "guard against something." There are also few references listed below that God promises to protect (guard) us from danger.
I. Christians are expected to -
1. “...keep yourselves from idols” - I John 5:21
2. “…let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.” - I Thessalonians 5:6
3. “Those who guard their lips preserve their lives,…” Proverbs 13:3
4. “…Be on your guard against all kinds of greed;…” - Luke 12:15
5. "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” - Proverbs 4:23
II. God promises protection for us.
6. “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:7
7. “…for He guards the lives of His faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.” - Psalm 97:10
8. “…for He guards the course of the just and protects the way of His faithful ones.” - Proverbs 2:8
Please keep these exhortations in mind and in your prayers. I would recommend a more in depth study of these warnings. Some of these scriptures alert us of potential danger.
In the last three references, God promises His protection for His faithful servants. As always, we can rely on His promises and it’s up to us to “be doers of the Word." Throughout your day, "be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong." Prayerfully meditate these verses in silence and listen for the guidance from the Holy Spirit.
I hope this is helpful. Have a blessed day.
Peace and be prepared.
@Seamus_Othot Yes. My deceased mother got one too. And they are aware she's deceased. Like the one pictured, it was made out to her estate. I need to make sure she doesn't vote this fall..although she was a Republican.
@PingreeHannah You know what's worse...no bid contacts, forced energy solutions that don't work in Maine, Medicaid fraud, rampant drug use, rent control...shall I go on? This isn't a Trump problem, this is years of Democrat government rule. Mainers are tired of your lies!!
