Que pasa! Today marks the 243rd anniversary of the end of the Great Siege (1779-83), which resulted in a British victory ๐ฌ๐ง Despite laying an intense siege which lasted almost 4 years, the armies of Spain and France failed to wrest control of #Gibraltar from Britain.

Que pasa! Itโs not every day that a medieval icon of the Virgin Mary can be seen at the Cathedral! ๐ Dating back to the 13th century, the Kursk Root Icon of the Theotokos of the Sign has long been venerated in the Orthodox Church โฆ๏ธ
In 1295, the icon was discovered by Kursk, which is today part of Russia ๐ท๐บโช๏ธ It survived the turmoil and throes of the Russian Revolution and the Second World War, after which it was eventually taken to the USA ๐บ๐ธ
