Provide consulting to #Arizona school districts to assist with hiring, mentoring and development of school counseling programs and Trauma Informed care.
@DrBradJohnson Social/Emotional Learning needs to lead the way, not standardized testing. Imagine focusing on the whole child, mental health awareness, teaching empathy and compassion, emotional regulation, conflict resolution, assertive skills. Only then will our kids be ready to learn.
Not only do #SchoolCounselors in Arizona not receive 301 and pay for performance, we lack proper professional development and appropriate roles within each district. #RoleMatters
#SchoolCounselors are continuously trying to find the best way to support our students social and emotional learning. Relationships and connections is the foundation of what we do. Itβs just not the same in a virtual setting. #SEL
We cannot stress it enough for #adminstrators to work with your #SchoolCounselors to come up with the best way possible to support your students. Virtual counseling may not be what families want right now nor what counselors are comfortable providing due to confidentiality.
School Counselors are trained to respond in a calming, adaptable, and creative way. We are on the front lines of communicating with families, students, and staff. @Arizona_ASA how are you utilizing your #SchoolCounselor during this unusual time? #SEL#RoleMatters @friendsASBA

Although #SchoolCounselors are the #SEL experts and #Adminstrators are the academic experts on campus, both must work together to find the right level of support for their students. Consultation between the two is crucial during times like these. @Arizona_ASA

Unless there is cohesion between #administrators and #SchoolCounselors, data means nothing. The data needs to mean something to both in order for real student achievement to happen. Both must be on the same page and moving in the same direction. @Arizona_ASA
The ASCA model is what all schools should strive for. However, we are finding many districts in Arizona need support getting to the point of using a tool such as this. #SchoolCounselingSolutions gets you from start-up to best practice. @Arizona_ASA@AzSBA@azedschools
