I've only seen one or two tweets of this nature, but I'm just gonna put this out here: our dissatisfaction with the lack of communication & Valko's cancellation has nothing to do with Chinese culture & heritage. Please don't wrongfully direct your anger there, be respectful guys.
I just want to put my thoughts out there. I have no proof, nobody does, and this is purely my personal hopium. I’m not claiming this is what Infold is doing.
But the current situation is unusual: two bannerless events have been announced for the 17th—the new main story branch with a free card and the cultural heritage collab.... while there is still no new wish pool.
If they were planning to bring Valko back, announcing the “safe,” non-controversial content first would actually make sense. It allows the main story and the collab to receive attention without being completely overshadowed by his return.
The recent positive coverage about LaDS promoting Chinese culture could also help rebuild the game’s public image and create a calmer environment before making a much more sensitive announcement.
Then they could announce Valko separately on the 16th and release him on the 17th. That would still give him his own PV and a huge amount of PR, while leaving very little time for antis to organize another campaign before the decision is already implemented.
A completely unannounced release on the 17th seems less likely to me because players, media, localization teams and the different platforms still need some preparation. But a very short announcement window could be intentional.
Again, this is just me thinking out loud and connecting possibilities. It may not happen at all. And if it doesn’t, nothing about our position changes: we keep boycotting, keep supporting Valko and keep going. This has always been a marathon, not a deadline. 🐺💚
