Shanghai just launched China’s first public-service platform to help game companies expand overseas, naming the U.S. as a top market.

The articles also emphasize that overseas revenue from domestically developed Chinese games rose 30.22% year over year, with the United States, Japan, and South Korea remaining the three largest target markets. Shanghai itself is investing RMB 50 million annually into areas including original-game development, technology, industry growth, and companies going global.

This does not directly mention PPG but the message is pretty clear:

Shanghai is actively treating overseas players, overseas revenue, legal compliance, and long-term access to foreign markets as strategically important… not as an afterthought.

For a major Shanghai-based game company, damaging trust with a large overseas player base is not happening in a vacuum. It runs directly against the economic and industry direction Shanghai is currently promoting.

Interesting development indeed.

Apparently someone impersonating as Papergames official and sent a complaint towards a user on Douyin for creating content about Valko. And about an hour later or so the complaint was withdrawn. Complaint statement translation on last paragraph 👇🏻

With a little bit of research I did, apparently they do not require business information to file a complaint on behalf of a company BUT it does require real name verification, ID etc.

So I'm assuming, the person behind the complaint chickened out. People are also mentioning that the statement isn't consistent with how Papergames would write on their complaints, which is more formal & inclusive of legal terms.

Complaint statement: Valko is the male lead of our company who was named and taken down by state media due to crossing the red line. This video continues to post content featuring this red-line male lead, infringing upon our company's rights. By publishing unauthorized character content related to Love and Deepspace through live-action performances, video edits, animations, images, text, etc., it severely impacts the image and reputation rights of our IP, causing a terrible negative influence. Our company demands the removal of the video.
