Dito napupunta ang confi budget ng OVP. Mga walang hiya. Exclusive: Fake accounts drove praise of Duterte and now target Philippine election https://t.co/q99wmdJGW5
I found this troubling.
Why was DOTr Undersecretary Ricky Alfonso using protocol plate No. 10 when his rank only entitles him to No. 12?
Later on, the DOTr clarified that while Usec. Alfonso is allowed to use such a plate in his official capacity, the vehicle itself was not formally registered for protocol plate use which has now led to an internal review.
It may seem like a small issue but it speaks volumes. It reflects a mindset that treats symbols of office as marks of privilege rather than instruments of public trust. And coming from a Transportation Undersecretary, the irony is hard to miss.
I can only speak for myself but when I was in government, I used my protocol plate only once a year, which was during the SONA, only because Commonwealth Avenue was sealed off by the PNP.
I never flaunted protocol plates. They were meant for identification and access, not for display or entitlement.
Public service should not be about privilege. It should be about responsibility.
UPDATED na LISTAHAN ng Bicameral Conference Committee (BICAM) Members na NAG-USAP at NAG-MAGIC sa 2025 BUDGET.

A Discaya firm blacklisted in 2020 made most of its comeback during the tenure of Roger Mercado, Duterte's DPWH chief after Mark Villar. St. Gerrard's biggest client: Mercado's own province, Southern Leyte.

Sabi ng tweety bird ko, may mga Senador daw na tinatakot ang mga Barangay Captains and officials from joining or helping in any way the indignation protest by Bocaueños.
Enough is enough!

A Call for RECTO ‘s Resignation: When Public Office Becomes a Public Threat
Ralph Recto has long styled himself as a fiscal expert. But behind the polished facade lies a legacy of betrayal—of public health, of good governance, and of the Filipino people.
He is Mr. VAT Man, the architect of regressive taxation. He is the tobacco lobby’s champion, having derailed the Sin Tax Law in 2012 while puffing away in full view of the public. He vapes. He smokes. And he legislates in favor of addiction.
Last year, he orchestrated the transfer of ₱90 billion to pork barrel and unprogrammed appropriations—shielded from scrutiny, in cahoots with DBM, DPWH, and fellow lawmakers. This year, PhilHealth received zero subsidy. Zero. While the poor gasp for coverage, Recto ensures the pipes of patronage flow freely.
In his home province, nepotism thrives. Public service has become a family business. And yet, he remains—smiling, calculating, deceiving.
Health advocates have fought him for years. We know the cost of his policies: lives lost, reforms delayed, dignity denied.
This is not leadership. It is sabotage.
Ralph Recto must resign—not tomorrow, not next election, but now. The Republic deserves better than a man who taxes the poor, protects vice, and buries accountability beneath layers of concrete and charm.
Let us not be fooled by appearances. Let us not be silenced by power.
Let us demand integrity. Let us demand his exit.

Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto is one Time Magazine's Emerging List in the leaders category. Maria Ressa who wrote the tribute for Vico puts it perfectly, " In the Philippines fighting corruption feels like a death by a thousand cuts each small victory eroded by the system's capacity to regenerate. But Vico Sotto is proving it can be done."
Thanks to our friend Ken Abante for flagging at a Senate hearing a struggle we journalists face: SEC docs aren’t free.
We spent P30K on Zaldy Co files last year via SEC Express. ESearch is cheaper at P375/doc, but costs still pile up.
If we want transparency, why the paywall?
Jinggoy Estrada questions Senator Kiko Pangilinan for alluding to him and the Napoles / pork barrel cases.
Jinggoy says and asks: "I was acquitted by the courts. Are you questioning the decision of the courts? You are a lawyer! I'm not. You shouldn't be talking that way. You are undermining the judicial process in our country. You being a member of the bar."
Yes, even lawyers can question the courts Mr. Sexy.
Article XI of the Constitution on accountability applies to all public officers - including Justices and Judges.
The point is made not just by Senator Kiko but by many legal academics teaching law students how to critically think - why are there new inventions by courts that constitute judicial legislation such as the main plunderer doctrine which make prosecution of plunder difficult if not impossible?
