@michellecyca Yes! I'm always in awe of the influencer moms who achieve the sad beige childhood aesthetic. Like, HOW? My life would come to a standstill if I didn't have rainbows, unicorns, and tie dye on offer.
@appliedcomms@Arley_McNeney Hi Melissa, I can't DM you but I would love to attend Arley's celebration of life virtually. She and I crossed paths through the open education community, and I would love to share in honoring her memory tomorrow. My email address is ltripp [at] langara [dot] ca 🙏
They would put on makeup and fancy clothes, and promenade until they received a sufficient number of compliments. This is exactly how I want to remember her. Have a beautiful walk, dear Arley.
I don't spend much time here now, but I felt called to log in today and this is when I learned of @Arley_McNeney's sudden passing. I've since read beautiful tributes to Arley from my friends in open education, libraries, professional writing, disability advocacy, and beyond [1/n]
I marvelled at the close relationship she had with her daughter. She was the fun mom I wished I could be! In one IG post, she described what her daughter called their "beautiful walks" [4/n]
@thatpsychprof @Arley_McNeney Oh Rajiv, there are no words 😔 I didnt have the privilege of knowing Arley personally, but her tweets were a bright spot in my feed. She taught us so much. She leaves behind an incredible legacy on so many fronts: educator, athlete, writer, mother, advocate in the purest form
It's almost Halloween so I thought I'd share a news story that still haunts me after 2+ years of weeding the print collection 👻☠️ https://t.co/RUQEevqnLg
"The books are essentially in deep storage, inaccessible to customers and unsearchable by the bookstore's three-person staff since most of them aren't catalogued."
"After five years of collecting unwanted books from local thrift stores that would otherwise be tossed in the local dump, Gaudet has amassed nearly 200,000 titles."
