The recent Sabatini news and outpouring of support from some scientists (+ a swarm of internet misogynists) is upsetting to most ppl, but it's straight-up triggering for those who have experienced sexual harassment. Hearing others defend and minimize certain behaviors. I see you.
@resultsboy@DahWeasel Fwiw last year the ss women started behind the men’s fat bikes & had the majority of the issues within the first 4 min of the race. Not sure how I would expect that to come out in raw numbers and percentages 🤔
@spencerhaugh @ellenlikesbikes It wasn’t until my 30s that I was able to find a sense of home in myself & in the world. Forged by struggle -my priorities & perspectives have changed drastically; my life is now much more full. the things I view as my greatest successes are largely unseen
@resultsboy@usacycling I think what you may be missing is that women are not flabbergasted by this bc it isn't new and isn't news. And that there may be something to the fact that you got a reply, while a lot of women have lost their voice screaming into the void about this for most of the decade
@CritMagician@HalfBenLiang @AJMoran2 I'll never forget the year that the UVM team was covering their legs with olive oil...until it got too expensive and then they downgraded to canola
Every time a woman is the first to stand in her power and say “no more” to the systems created by men—and that these systems are no longer acceptable, she is paving the way for the next woman who stands up for herself and says ‘no more.’ Way to go, @naomiosaka Way to go, girl.
