At 11:59 last night, Barbados changed the road on which money travels.

We gathered at the Central Bank to launch BiMPay, our new national instant payment platform.

The very first transaction was made to a small Barbadian business. That was deliberate.

BiMPay is for the vendor, the farmer, the hairdresser, the taxi operator, the mechanic and every Barbadian seeking a faster way to do business.

This is what modern infrastructure feels like.

I want to thank Governor Greenidge, the Central Bank team, the participating institutions, the World Bank and Montran.

Tonight, money moved, and tomorrow, opportunity must move with it.
