The current Sechelt District Council is captured by the indigenous racket in this community and its true for politics throughout the province. There is no pro-homeowner or Pro-Canadian view on Sechelt District Council. The current council -a disgrace of excess spending, bickering, dysfunction, ass-kissing the local native band of 600 people & their huge amount of land- believe Canada is on stolen land. These councillors were also happy to see the wages of local people greatly suppressed by the tsunami of foreign workers into our community, a flood encouraged by Mayor Henderson and councillors.

I stand for the actual citizens who grew up in Canada and British Columbia.

The maximum CPP pension payment that a 65 year-old Canadian worker can receive today is $1,507.65/month.

That's $18,091/year.

The CPP in its current form targeted a benefit, after 65, equivalent to 25% of the national career-average annual earnings. In very basic terms, the CPP only replaces one quarter of the average person's wages.

Every year you work, the plan looks at how much you earned, but it only “counts” earnings up to that year’s average wage.

Let’s say that cap was $57,000 one year.

If you earned $57,000 the plan recorded $57,000.
If you earned $50,000, it recorded $50,000.
If you earned $90,000, it still only recorded $57,000.

In order to qualify for the maximum CPP benefit, you need to have earned more that the average annual wage for 40 years. Only about 3% of Canadians meet that goal. That's why today the average CPP benefit at 65 is only $877.
