(Thread) Today we vaccinated more than 1,200 healthcare workers and EMS staff in Johnson County. KS. These people are identified as being in Phase 1A and are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine according to the @KDHE vaccination plan.
The danger of the new Covid variant isn't that it's more severe, but that it's more contagious. If more people get infected, this will increase the burden on already-overwhelmed hospitals—and lead to more deaths.
Masks work. Kudos to State Epidemiologist Dr. Ahmed; Capt. Rule, Kansas Army National Guard; Dr. Satterwhite, @HHSGov; and our collaborative partners @KHIorg and @CDCgov. Wear your mask, physically distance, avoid gatherings, wash hands often & stay home if you are sick.
Thanks, @OleMissRebels and @OleMissCSSFYE for making such a fun and creative Fall Convocation possible. Great job to all involved. Students, keep pressing on. We're here for you and we're going to make it through! #HottyToddy
Masks are the most effective tool we have to stop the spread of #COVID19 and there is strong evidence that they make a difference. Always wear a mask in public places, and make sure the cloth completely covers your nose and mouth. #StopTheSpread
My impromptu “motivational speech from my soapbox” today with student leaders in the Dean of Students Community of Practice. 2:30 in length, worth your time, I think. @OleMissRebels we need your help. Let’s prove them wrong! #HYDR#HottyToddy#MaskUp
Sorry 4 Zoom “bootleg” copy!
#joco posted it’s 3rd highest COVID case count today (155) and has averaged 130 cases/day over the last 4 days. This is after averaging 90 cases/day over the last 2 weeks which was still considered a hit spot per WH. We’ve got to do better if we want schools to open!
We are headed into unprecedented territory as the virus gains speed through our state. Now is the time to pull together and fight the virus, not each other.
EMPLOYERS: Employees who are in quarantine because they were exposed to a COVID-19 positive individual, must quarantine the FULL 14 DAYS even if they test negative for COVID-19. It can take up to 14 days for symptoms to develop.
C-19 activity, KS, actual numbers vs early projections (done 1 APR by team member CPT John Rule, PhD). Actual cases/deaths on 4/15: 1494/76. Early forecast for 15 APR cases/deaths: 1587/84. Can’t get much closer than that! Forecasting is very tricky. Fortunate he’s on our team.
This is one of the things that has always baffled me about #publichealth funding. Along with why the funds can only use it on that specific disease as opposed to maintaining our ability to respond to any infectious disease threat.
