HOW DO LARGE CLASS SIZES AFFECT CLASSROOMS?
β’Teachers have less time to support students individually and provide needed immediate feedback
β’Fewer opportunities to build necessary connections
β’Fewer enrichment activities
β’MORE behavior issues
@FixingEducation I have 30-32 fifth graders each year, in a portable, teaching 2 state-tested subjects, and am supposed to do hands-on, small groups, and centers. I wish our district and state wouldn't overcrowd our classrooms.

If you have a supportive administration who values and appreciates you, make sure to let them know. They are stressed out with staff shortages, mandates and unrealistic expectations placed on them as well.
All of the pay raises, fewer work days, and other perks won't matter if classrooms are filled to capacity. Teachers will still struggle and suffer burnout, especially when faced with so many SPED, inclusion, and differentiation in one class.
I was asked to lead an activity with our 5th graders at their GT Expo. I chose an escape room on ecosystems and interdependence. The students definitely were engaged and did a great job collaborating! @LSROmustangs #problemsolver#collaboration@ellenksaltzman
