Last Sept, I spent weeks glued to my couch, depressed. I was mourning my dog’s death & sick with covid. I was missing my family, tired of the never-ending pandemic. So I opened my laptop & began writing about migrant life. It published today in @TheNasiona https://t.co/JmkpmEMi1f
"Schultz says Obama found time to read because he sees reading as necessary, and he makes it a priority on his schedule. 'He considered [reading] part of being a good leader, part of being a good president, part of being a good father, a good husband, and a good man.'"
For @esquire, I went searching for the secret machine behind @BarackObama's annual lists of book recommendations. As someone who worked in the publishing industry for a decade, what I "uncovered" shocked me.

"After more than 100 yrs, plenty of added sugar, & growing consumer desire for “clean caffeine,” something companies are calling yerba mate is finally on shelves near you. But in this land of individualism and germophobia, the real thing will simply never catch on."
Loved this!
🧉 Entrepreneurs have been trying to convince N. Americans to drink Yerba mate for more than a century. I explored why all we have is a canned, diluted version of the real stuff. https://t.co/fWGWpd3JXF #yerbamate editing by @rachgutman 🙏
Today would’ve been my grandma’s 100th birthday. Her name was Emelina Moore & she was 3rd generation Irish-Argentine. She died when I was 7, so I remember little of her, but she’s the driving force behind one of the main characters of my novel. Storytelling keeps people alive. 🤍
Twitter friends: I wanted to share that I'm offering editing services for all kinds of texts (including radio), with a focus on non-native English writers. I'm also offering mentoring services for international reporting. Pls spread the word if u can! https://t.co/qLg7E7a9vo
Journo hive mind: Does anyone have info about old articles from @thelilynews disappearing since the website merged with @washingtonpost main site? My articles from 2019 & 2020 no longer exist, and the editor I worked with is no longer there, so I'm at a loss at who to ask. Thnx!

“Suffering is an essential part of an Argentinean narrative, shared by coaches, players, supporters—by the entire country.”
Beautiful, beautiful essay. 💙🤍
