@w_terrence Burnt Orange B-210 drove it until was totaled by a Pontiac tank 10 years later. Not a scratch on the Pontiac bumper. Just a smear of my paint.
Billionaires are trying to close our public schools with something called private school vouchers.
They say it’ll help poor kids go to private schools. They call it “school choice.” It all sounds so noble.
But vouchers are the biggest scam I’ve ever seen.
The Nation’s Report Card from @NAEP_NCES shows that TN students amassed some “firsts.” For the first time, we rank above the national average in both fourth- and eighth-grade math & ELA & are listed among the top 25 states. We are outpacing the nation in math & ELA proficiency rates, while also improving in reading — even though the nation is seeing a decline. Amid this good news, we must continue to work together toward even more progress & closing achievement gaps. More analysis from SCORE will come soon. Straight-up Blackmail.
When politicians like @SenJohnson lie about pushing the billionaire-backed Voucher Scam because they care about disadvantaged kids, remember how they vindictively screwed-over flood victims.
Pure evil.
😢 Arizona’s universal ESA vouchers are causing devastating impacts to our communities.
“Arizona is ripe for school closures due to decades of inadequate state funding [and] public dollars siphoned away by school vouchers.”

Here’s the Voucher state success that @SenJohnson is touting ⬇️
Fighting to bring the plummeting & historically low math & reading scores in Florida to Tennessee.
The Hamblen County (Morristown, TN) Commission has joined the group of local legislative bodies in opposing Governor Bill Lee’s effort to send public money to private schools in the form of vouchers.

Education Freedom Act lacks parent choice, is fiscally irresponsible, & establishes unequal & inequitable accountability. As it is proposed, vote NO on universal vouchers. Our state, families, teachers, & students deserve better than Education Freedom Act. @GovBillLee
WATCH: “Instead of giving money to private schools that don’t take kids like me, please help public schools get better and fund them.”
A 6th grader with cerebral palsy speaks out against the TEXAS voucher scam. (cc: @GovBillLee)
Something I had missed in the voucher amendments added yesterday was the clause that teachers in systems who do not pass a resolution affirming participation in the voucher act will not automatically receive the $2,000 bonus.
Let’s keep the focus on strengthening and fully funding public education. Tennessee consistently ranks among the lowest in education funding. Urge your legislators to protect Tennessee’s public schools and vote NO on vouchers. Our students deserve better.
There’s existing academic evidence predicting that traditional voucher programs incentivize existing private schools to raise tuition, using the new dollars as something of a public subsidy. https://t.co/VsJf8q0XTm
Chairman of TN Business Roundtable recognizes private school vouchers are a potential threat to public schools, and he doesn’t view vouchers to subsidize families who can afford private schools, if they choose, as a fiscally conservative state practice.

😮 Phoenix Elementary School District is the latest district facing school closures due to chronic underfunding & the massive financial drain of AZ’s universal ESA voucher program. School districts across AZ are being forced to make heartwrenching decisions.
