Denmark's 40% increase in #IDA21 pledge marks bold commitment to eradicating poverty, promoting sustainable development, climate action & addressing global challenges.

At the UN yesterday, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and @WorldBank Group President Ajay Banga took an important step toward tackling some of the most urgent challenges facing the world’s poorest countries, with Denmark making an early commitment to this year’s replenishment of the World Bank’s IDA.
As crises like climate change, debt distress, and food insecurity deepen, IDA’s mission is more vital than ever. It provides lifelines to the 75 most vulnerable nations, helping them address the intersecting crises they face while building stronger systems in health, education, and other areas of critical need.
Denmark’s commitment, representing an increase of 40% on the funding it has previously provided, signals the importance of international solidarity and scaling up financing to meet today’s challenges – we must ensure IDA is fully funded and can make a lasting impact. #UNGA79
