Rest in Peace Miss Dolly.
This is the last performance she and I did together in Dollywood for her Christmas special. We sang “Christmas Where We Are” ! What most people don’t know is Dolly moved the entire film schedule shoot date because my mom Ruthie had passed away.
Dolly Parton … You have touched the hearts of the world . You have made your mark and made it well …. A shining light that will shine on beyond the sun and moon …and certainly this crazy planet.
From this day henceforth is forever known as … at least in my broken heart 💔…. as After Dolly. A.D.

“I’m just getting started,” #DollyParton said in her final interview with PEOPLE. After decades of breaking barriers and making an indelible mark on music, fashion and philanthropy, the country music icon still had so much more planned. In honor of her extraordinary legacy, PEOPLE is celebrating the star with two new covers, on newsstands next week.

Dolly Parton’s sister reveals the star was willing to try experimental cancer drugs in hopes of helping “others in the future.”
In a message posted to social media, Stella Parton wrote of Dolly, “My sister was one of the most generous, thoughtful and kind people I’ve ever known. What the world saw is exactly who she was, so much so, she told me recently that if there was no hope for her, she would still allow her medical team to try experimental drugs in the hope of helping others in the future.”
“My sister was always thinking of others, and if you want to honor her legacy, show more kindness, lift others up, and give more of your time and resources, as she continued to do to the very end.”

Betty White’s World War II uniform stands as far more than simple documentation of her military contributions. It functions as a tangible archive of her personal experiences.
Years before she rose to become one of television’s most cherished figures, Betty White set aside her aspirations in Hollywood so she could contribute to the national effort. In 1941, when she was only 19, she enlisted in the American Women’s Voluntary Services after the United States entered World War II.
Her assignment involved motor transport. Day after day she operated a sturdy PX truck, carrying essential goods such as soap, toothpaste, and candy to artillery positions scattered across the California hills.
Once evening arrived, she exchanged her work clothes for evening wear and joined dances intended to lift the spirits of young troops about to leave for overseas duty.
After her death in December 2021, her estate presented the carefully maintained olive-drab AWVS uniform and its accompanying shoulder bag to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. The gift disclosed an extraordinary collection of everyday home-front objects.
Within the bag, museum staff uncovered everyday wartime items that included blank V-mail stationery, gasoline ration coupons, red food tokens, and a makeup compact stamped with the AWVS emblem.
Most moving of all were 29 distinct military insignia pins given to her by individual service members, together with a meticulously kept handwritten roster of their names. These objects preserve a deeply intimate and lasting record of human connection and patriotic feeling during the war.
I know I speak for many when I state that there is now a void in the heart of Americana... no, the whole world, that may never be filled.
Dolly, words cannot define the enormity of your talent, the breadth of your kindness, the depth of your compassion and the expanse in which your legend will carry on in perpetuity.
It was an honor and privilege to have met you at the Country Music Awards. I knew then as so many others have said; you were not only someone whose smile and presence were larger than life, your heart was even larger.
I lift my eyes upward and know that while you've left us here, you're singing amongst the angels, assuredly giving the host of Heaven a run for their money. -Barbara Eden
