@Telegraph streeting has no experience in finance (degree was history) plus he’s massively disliked to boot (at least Miliband has qualifications in finance as does cooper)
Surely Labour have a number of MPs with finance degrees/experience & Burnham does not resort to moving deck chairs!
@Steven_Swinford Streeting has a history degree £ no financial quals - he doesn’t have the cv for the chancellor job
Miliband does have the quals and would be 1st choice if he didn’t spook the markets
Healey is far too pro war
Cooper’s qualifications may make her safe, uncontroversial option
@ZiaYusufUK The uk votes 4 party and its manifesto- not individuals
Considering the leadership contests & unelected pms the tories have had in past decade it’s okay to have 1 switch and no ge
They just got to not to stray too far from manifesto
And not call ge till trumps no long POTUS
@DisabilityInsdr You may want to look at the news today that the findings (and recommendations - that bit is less clear) to the timms review will be published before summer recess on 23rd July - less than 7 days after this toolkit in a box end date (too late to be considered in report)
@RobertJenrick I calculated that my dad is the only member of my family welcome in reforms uk (mums foreign born but been here for 50 yrs and more British than a lot of brits and I’m disabled & duel national) but he’s the angriest of the 3 of us (b4 u ask - British citizenship is super costly)
@RobertJenrick You are saying that thousands of British citizens husband, wives, mothers and fathers should be deported and aren’t welcome in the uk even if they have contributed yrs of tax and are now retired. threatening to deport British citizen family members is a serious harmful policy
@KemiBadenoch@Conservatives can one politican have the guts to say that the only way they think disabled can help the uk is by dying or killing ourselves as we know you are all thinking it and that’s the result your policies will bring.
purging disabled to pay for weapons (likely made outside uk) is sick!
@KemiBadenoch@Conservatives I think every disabled welfare claimant will tell you that welfare spending has been cut several times in the past 15 years.
I agree that the 2 child limit needs to be brought back and that pip and state pension may need to be frozen to find some funds
@AllisonPearson You may want to look at your maths and the actual statistics - 5k new claimants a day would equal 1.8million new claimants a year. I’m not sure the dwp even carry out 10% (180% assessments for new & existing claimants) a yr.
Stop smearing disabled with false stats!
@BBCNewsnight What if the wave burnham is currently riding wipes out
There’s already signs that Burnham obvious ambition and the fact that he’s acting like becoming pm is a done deal and he can impose his desired policies & ignore the Labour manifesto voted on in 2024 is turning ppl off
@KarlTurnerMP@patmcfaddenmp The theory going round the disabled community is the McFadden saw providing messages with Mandelson as an opportunity to turn more of public support towards his agenda of huge welfare cuts. So many of us have been scared by the increased hate stirred by labours own Grimm reaper!
@KarlTurnerMP@patmcfaddenmp Just guessing here but prehaps no Labour mp actually said anything close to the now infamous McFadden quote and prehaps it was spin & sarcasm from McFadden who clearly despises all claimants regardless of person circumstances
@AndyBurnhamGM The ‘working people’ line that Starmer keeps on repeating that excludes those not able to work due to age or health that is such a face slap.
Add the rumor that mahmood is going to be your chancellor and it’s just more of status quo
How long till you throw disabled under bus?!
@0121propicture@patmcfaddenmp Got to say I didn’t have ‘macfadden throwing disabled welfare claimants under the bus via the Mandelson files’ on my bingo card!
But macfadden is a reform/tory mp in all but name and if Starmers premiership wasn’t so unstable I’d be hoping he get sacked
@patmcfaddenmp You’ve also been shown to be too close to mcsweeney & Mandelson and you are first & foremost their personal ‘attack dog’ - I can’t imagine Starmer, streeting (and I think raynor) will be too thrilled with you right now -that old saying about karma seems appropriate right now
@patmcfaddenmp Problem is your words are being spun both ways - the right are using it as proof of Labour endorsing welfare state however as a disabled person this is proof your main goal is to cut welfare payments with no interest of safeguarding 1000s of vulnerable from the guise of ‘reform’
@NoahKeate It was obvious mcsweeney wasn’t ‘gone’ gone even if he was off the official books Starmer was going to place him further in shadow operations (why else would he of stood down so readily and no new job been reported - still under the Starmer unofficial payroll imo)
@Dr_Bekka_UK Also the dwp just did the following - meaning those claimants due reviews before reforms/timms review gets presented late 2026 will most likely get delayed till new criteria comes in.
