ProgPoW was designed to be more ASIC resistant than Ethash, in order to retain a fair distribution of mining hardware.

Quai Network will be using ProgPoW for mining in the Iron Age Testnet.

However, when Ethereum officially merged to Proof-of-Stake, the ProgPoW project was largely abandoned.

Now, Quai Network is bringing it back for the Iron Age Testnet.
