The Ombudsman for Children's Office is devastated to hear about the passing of Saoirse Ruane.
We are thinking about her friends and family during this time.

Positive meeting with @pobal today as part of stakeholder engagement. Great to talk about grassroots needs & issues we face especially when supporting disadvantaged. Great to see pobal meeting services, hearing our perspective and getting a better idea of what issue we face.
Got a text for my son's school today saying that meal scheme starts after Easter. I'm delighted as a parent yet in ECEC we're realistically years off unless Gov takes urgent steps to address food poverty in children's formative years
Child poverty doesn't start in junior infants
Very positive meeting with the Taoiseachs Child Poverty & Wellbeing office discussing the absence of government support to tackle disadvantage/ poverty in ECEC and SAC. Child poverty doesn't start in junior infants & we need early intervention to start in ECEC. #nochildleftbehind
Great hearing @seansherlocktd quote article 2 of the UNCRC at today's Oireachtas committee meeting and all children should have a right to ECEC. So often government doesn't prioritise children's rights/ needs in ECEC, instead opting for work activation or political gain instead.
As president of @OMEPIreland I'm delighted to be associated with organising & presenting at this conference on Sat, focusing on ESD in early childhood. Thanks to our amazing committee @Dr__Jude@TeachKloud@AnnieMCummins@MuireannRanta M. Daly C. Sheehan J.O'Leary & Denise Baker
Honoured and grateful to present alongside @ShierHarry, who shared his knowledge & life experiences of child rights-based research as part of the Transformative Child Rights Education module on the Masters in Leadership in Early Years Education and Care. @setulll@SETUHumanities

Since @rodericogorman
announced €1 billion is being spent on ECEC SAC, it's alarming to see the growth of corporate, chain companies enter & expand in our profession. This type of profiteering is built on excessive fees, poor wages & exchequer funding
