@anna_finch20 I also really enjoyed learning about how communities can help empower and strengthen individuals this semester!! I never really realized how much of an impact a community can have on an individual until this course. #SOWK35021
@CressMikaylah It is super important to become involved with the community because the members can give you support and any other help you may need!! #SOWK35021
An important takeaway from this course was community involvement/engagement. I learned the benefits of becoming more involved with the community & its members & am looking forward to using all of the different theories surrounding macro level social work in the future #SOWK35021
One skill I learned this week was how to gather data from the United States Census Bureau. This will be helpful for learning more about the communities I want to work with in my future as a Social Worker. #SOWK35021
@CressMikaylah I also really enjoyed learning about photo mapping and how to create them. It can definitely be helpful & interesting to see how a community is connected #SOWK35021
@brigettesowk350 This is definitely a huge issue, education does appear to be a basic human right, and the fact that not everyone receives proper education, or any education at all is upsetting to hear and think about. #SOWK35021
@leahchen21 It is very sad how big of a problem food insecurity is in the US. This can have a huge negative impact on the development of young children, as well as adults and I hope that this issue is resolved soon. #SOWK35021
It is very sad to me that so many women in the US face sexual violence or GBV and are too scared to come forward about it. The prevention of this should be discussed more, as well as resources for those who are too scared to speak up about their experiences. #SOWK35021
April is #SexualAssaultAwarenessMonth. Sexual violence is a global concern, w/ 1 in 3 women experiencing physical &/or sexual violence in her lifetime. The U.S. is committed to preventing #GBV, supporting survivors, & standing with the women & girls leading the charge for change.
My ideal geographic community would be having important resources near by, such as a hospital/doctor's office, grocery store, etc. I also think being part of a smaller community will allow for closer bonds and relationships, which is very important as well. #SOWK35021
@MadisonVitale2 Having basic necessities as close as possible is definitely super important! I live very close to the beach as well, which is super nice. #SOWK35021
@Evdokia2323 That's awesome that it's so safe and peaceful! I've never lived in an area where I felt safe enough to do this unfortunately, but I also am just super cautious and nervous to leave anything unlocked regardless of the area I'm in. #SOWK35021
I grew up in Howell, New Jersey. I would describe my neighborhood as quiet, safe and suburban. There were lots of children around mine & my brother's age which made it fun to grow up there! #SOWK35021
@brigettesowk350 This is extremely important, this past year more than ever. This is a great list for people to go through in times of need. Thanks for sharing this! #SOWK35021
@sbf0009 This is a great list. It is super important to make sure people have resources to bring awareness to this topic as well as how to prevent child abuse. #SOWK35021
Domestic violence is something that not very many people feel comfortable speaking out about. It is important to have accessible resources for those who do not want to talk about their experiences. Here is where you can find more resources. #SOWK35021

@klassic2000 I think this is super important to bring attention to. The mental health of clients is something that should be paid attention to especially in group settings because often they may feel uncomfortable sharing their feelings. #SOWK35021
@sbf0009 Hey Sarah, I think this is an issue that should be brought to so many people's attention, child abuse happens more than we think, so bringing awareness to this topic is super important. #SOWK35021
