We are some proud parents tonight. Just watched our baby girl sing the National Anthem at Texas Tech baseball game. You are amazing Malia. So proud of you! And to top it off Argyle’s finest Red Raider DC aka Dillion Carter hits a first pitch 2 run Dinger👊🏻 @WreckEm
A high school junior stayed on Zoom after my final class today.
He said he “just wanted to do a vibe check on his teachers.”
“Like... you're all checking in on us. But who’s checking in on you?"
In times like these, we need #SEL. This Friday, Mar. 27, is the 1st International #SELDay. Take a break to be an #SEL Champion and share this post to spread the word. @UrbanAssembly@DAdams_SEL @SEL4US
As a teacher, this is what I wish I could say to SOME parents:
Stop making excuses for your kids. STOP IT. Teach them to earn things, not demand things. Hold them to a higher standard. Challenge them. That way, when I try to challenge them, they’ll know we both expect it. #EdChat
If we want to help students learn, we need to stop telling them how do it. We must start the conversation with them about how we can do it together. Allowing students to invest in their own learning allows learning to accelerate in our classrooms.
When a school or district doesn’t include teachers as part of their decision making process for new implementations, it is a major disservice to STUDENTS. Bringing in different voices offers perspective, LOGISTICS, and buy-in. We know our students’ needs...we see them everyday.
It’s hard for me to conceive of anything more important … than helping a student feel valued. And that’s one reason relationships are so important. It is through personal connections, that we communicate to them their worth. Our investment in them, tells them they matter.
