The @airindia line-fit B787-9 will make its Canadian debut on 1.08.26.
It will operate daily non-stop between Delhi and Toronto despite unavailability of Pakistan's airspace.
With a block time of 17hrs and 15mts to Toronto, this will be one of the world's longest B787 flights.
@AmetaDivyansh @Amarrrrz Well that may be true but there is no formal confirmation from ministry of home affairs about an immigration post and customs being put in place at UDR as of today.
So the airport might be ready but until home ministry approves and the airlines should analyse enough demand.
This is @airindia’s first retrofitted Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, VT-ANT—and it’s gearing up to carry paying passengers very soon.
Before the aircraft ferried back to Delhi, I got access to see the completed new interiors, a pretty big milestone in the carrier’s US$400 million widebody cabin overhaul.
The redesigned cabin — created by JPA Design in collaboration with TrendWorks — introduces a sleek three-class layout: 20 Business Class suites in a 1-2-1 configuration, 25 Premium Economy seats in 2-3-2, and 205 Economy seats in 3-3-3. Business suites come with doors, a fully flat 79-inch bed, and 17-inch 4K screens, while Economy gets 11.6-inch displays.
On the outside, VT-ANT also got a full glow-up. It took a 20-person team 18 days at Aerotek’s San Bernardino facility to strip and repaint the jet into its striking new livery as the airline leans into its post-privatisation identity after 2022.
Was it a long journey to get here? Yes. Was it worth the wait? Most definitely.
This is just the beginning—25 more aircraft are set to go through the same retrofit program.

She’s finally home! ✈️
