One thing I’m learning about getting better at something:
You can spend months feeling like you’re making no progress, then look back and realize the things that used to frustrate you are now things you do without thinking.
Not every kind of progress announces itself.
There’s a particular kind of Nigerian confidence that comes with saying:
“Don’t worry, I know somebody there.”
No appointment. No contact saved. No actual plan.
Just faith, connections and vibes. 😭😂
There’s a point where you stop buying things because they’re popular and start asking:
“Will this actually make my life easier?”
That’s when your relationship with money changes.
Not every opportunity deserves a yes.
Sometimes the ability to say “this isn’t for me” is more valuable than being able to convince yourself to try everything.
Unpopular opinion: being “busy” is not always a sign that you’re doing well.
Sometimes you’re just doing too many things badly instead of doing a few things properly.
You ever open WhatsApp to reply one person, see another message, check someone’s status, watch one video…
Then 45 minutes later you remember you came there to reply somebody. 😭
You can leave your house with 5k thinking you’re financially okay
Then transport happens
Food happens
One random “abeg help me with this” happens
Suddenly you’re negotiating with your own bank app
What’s the first thing that normally finishes your money when you leave the house?
One thing adulthood didn’t warn me about:
Sometimes you’ll be tired, broke, hungry and still have responsibilities waiting for you.
You just breathe, sort out what you can and keep moving.
You don’t always need a perfect plan.
Sometimes you just need to start, adjust as you go and stop waiting until everything feels safe. That’s how plenty people finally move forward.
I went out to buy one small thing and somehow came back with three extra expenses, a new problem and no idea where the money went.
Nigeria will teach you financial discipline by force. 😭
The way salary enters your account and starts disappearing immediately needs to be studied.
Before you even enjoy the alert, food, transport, data and one unexpected problem have already shared it. 😭
Some people don’t need long explanations.
You can disappear for three months, come back with “guyyyyy,” and the friendship continues like nothing happened. 😂
There’s a special kind of confidence you get when you have money in your account and no immediate bill waiting for it.
Even your walking step changes. 😭
You may not be where you want to be yet, but at least you’re no longer where you started.
That progress still counts, even if nobody is clapping for it.
Sunday is somehow both a day of rest and a day for overthinking your entire life. 😭
You eat, scroll, sleep, wake up and start asking yourself serious questions about money, work and the future.
One step at a time. You’ll figure it out.
You can be doing your best and still feel like nothing is moving.
Keep going. Some results take longer to show, especially when you’re building with limited resources.
In Nigeria, your phone is not just a phone.
It’s your bank, office, camera, TV, game console, alarm clock and emergency torch when NEPA takes light. 😭📱
That’s why battery life and reliability matter more than showing off the latest model.
