Field testing of tethered UAVs integrated with the M1301 Infantry Squad Vehicle (ISV-U) has reportedly been completed as part of the U.S. Army’s Maneuver Battle Lab (MBL) project.
During the trials, two types of commercially available drones were operated by the vehicle crew through a tethered cable. The cable reportedly provided power to the UAVs while simultaneously carrying camera data, and could also recharge the drones.
According to the project, testing demonstrated that the UAVs could remain operational while the vehicle was moving, including under electronic-warfare conditions. The system also reportedly improved communications and signal-relay capabilities.

The level of innovation and rapid adaptation we have observed during the Ukraine war is transforming military affairs. Indeed, one day it might be described as a RMA. 1/2
WATCH: Footage appears to show an active protection system against interceptor drones installed on the Russian “Knyaz Oleg Veshchi” reconnaissance UAV.
There is currently no publicly available information on the exact countermeasure system. One possible interpretation is that it uses additional cameras and machine vision to detect approaching FPV interceptor drones.
According to this interpretation, when an enemy drone approaches, the system could either alert the operator or automatically trigger the deployment of threads intended to entangle the interceptor’s propellers.
Russia has previously demonstrated other countermeasures for UAVs, including systems intended to disrupt the video links of interceptor drones on Geran-2 strike UAVs, automatic evasive systems using onboard cameras on ZALA UAVs, and video-signal detection systems reportedly installed on the SKAT-350M.
The exact functionality of the system seen on the “Knyaz Oleg Veshchi” remains unconfirmed.

British engineer James Womble has tested a radio-controlled aircraft featuring a closed ring wing instead of conventional wings.
Small-scale models reportedly showed good stability in crosswinds and were able to autonomously return to level flight after disturbances.
The unusual geometry changes the airflow and the aircraft’s response to roll, potentially improving stability. However, scaling up the design revealed significant structural challenges.
A rigid ring proved too heavy and broke during failed takeoffs, while a lighter foam version deformed in flight. After reinforcement with a strut and rigid engine mounts, the aircraft was able to take off normally and complete several circuits.
Womble reportedly found the final aircraft only slightly different to fly from a conventional model, although its roll stability was improved. He does not claim that the ring wing is more efficient than a conventional design.
It looks like the era of cheap deep-strike drones may be coming to an end.
The hit and penetration rates of conventional designs are declining, while more jet-powered systems and drones incorporating low-observable technologies are increasingly emerging.
It’s starting to look very similar to what happened with bombers from the 1950s through the 1990s: as air defenses evolved, simply building more cheap platforms was no longer enough. Survivability, speed, range, and reduced radar signature became increasingly important.
➡️ https://t.co/QTWhrynaMe
Raytheon’s Coyote Block 3 can defeat drone swarms without explosives.
In a U.S. Army test, it intercepted multiple drones while reducing collateral damage risks.
Designed for reuse, the Coyote can return after missions and be deployed again.
