@SpiritAirlines It baffles me that a company would go against common sense as well as the NDOT notice to airlines that they should do everything in their power to ensure that children who are age 13 or younger are seated next to an accompanying adult with no additional charge.

@SpiritAirlines Per our conversation via DM it appears the policy is, in fact, to seat adults away from minor children unless they pay ≈$70-$100 total. However, it’s clear this IS about the money and not lack of seating.
