A counterpoint to what I just wrote- I also know girls in Scouts around HRM who LOVE it! Boys and girls having adventures.

(That said, I *personally* think scouting has a long way to go as an organization. I think GG has gotten with the times better.)

Something a lot of people don’t know us that the org as a whole is making great strides to centre youth experiences in 2023- the programming is really progressive & evolving, they’ve made changes to uniforms & changed the name of a unit in recent years. 1/2

@Tony_JV Feel free to PM me! I volunteer because I want to lift up girls and women in a really intentional way. Feminism aside, it makes me feel like I’m contributing to my community. The organization is imperfect but it is working to be a safe, inclusive place.

@Tony_JV Honestly, cookie pushing will totally depend on the unit & adults in charge 🤷‍♀️

Units will have unit guiders & assistants- usually female-identifying parents but I’m child free and volunteer. Majority of parents do not help out- kids get dropped off for the hour or whatever. 2/2
