You CANNOT go back in time and change the decisions you took. Forgive yourself, move on, be your best version. You're alive and until death all defeat is psychological.
Rebuild.
@CoachHackGO I always thought of HS coaching as a hobby that I got a small stipend to cover my gas money at the end of the year.
But a very serious hobby.
@tripletonyf I can’t tell you how often I’m the quietest Dad in the gym. Sometimes I have to move away from other parents so I don’t get sucked into the silly stuff
One thing I saw a lot of this season that I didn’t like is parents, family, or friends calling players out of the warmup line to dap them up or do secret handshakes. What the hell is that all about? Professionalism doesn’t exist much anymore. Like, who does that & thinks it’s ok?
Summer AAU/Club sports are great but there is something special about student-athletes competing against rival schools, in front of a crowd of community members, friends, and family, after attending classes all day, while playing alongside teammates who are also their classmates.
Kids will literally get on the internet after a win or a loss and just post the highlights of themselves. We’ve got so many self centered athletes it’s crazy to watch and see and when i go watch them play it’s a reflection of their play. Weird place we are in right now
I hated when Lebron went to Miami… I’m a warriors fan and I hated when KD went there. Didn’t like the Brooklyn meet up…nor this one with the clippers or the suns. I’d rather see these guys competing against each other every night.
I don’t like super teams.
Summer Mavs coach Jared Dudley mentioned that Jaden Hardy wasn't listening to play calls and dropping his head. He attributed a halftime talk from Shammgod for turning around Hardy's play.
"I thought [Jaden Hardy] played terribly [in the] first half. He wasn't listening to the play calls, dropping his head, going too fast, turning the ball over. [Shammgod] had a good halftime speech. I came in to follow him, talking to him about slowing down, making the right reads [and] that we were going to score enough points."
A respected college coach told me this weekend there are a lot of kids who can only play in transition you get them in the half court setting they struggle
If you’re yelling across the gym that the scorekeeper is 1pt incorrect in the 3rd quarter of a Sunday freshman game and your team is up 25pts… you need to stay away from youth sports please.
