The Eagles have signed CB Tariq Woolen as their new CB2
Some thoughts:
** Woolen is 6-4 with long arms, good speed (4.26 40) and just 26-years old. Has all the physical tools to be an outstanding starting corner.
** I think this is a good upside signing but also comes with risk. Woolen had an outstanding rookie year and has declined each year since, but the potential is absolutely there. Putting him with Fangio on this defense could get the best out of him but he makes mistakes that will drive Fangio, Sirianni and the coaches crazy.
** He has shown an ability to take the ball away — but like his play, his rookie year was his best year doing so. He had 6 INTs as a rookie and then 6 INTs in the last 3 years combined. But the Eagles value turnovers and Woolen has a history of doing just that.
** The one-year deal is interesting, The Eagles have a strict policy about in-season extensions. That means if Woolen is awesome he is set to cash in big-time next season — and the Eagles will be at the mercy of the market if they want him back.
