Gillingham Lodge of Benevolence No.184. An Atholl Association Lodge working to support the local community, charities & members in the Medway area since 1787.
The love and support everyone receives from the Lodge during difficult times is often focused through a caring and active Almoner. How lucky will all are that there are such Men as our Brothers.
Freemasonry is not a religion, far from it. But it is a spiritual fraternity for many. It's works for some and not others. Lessons are here about how to live life and even how to die. For we all hope to live respected and die regretted. Lifes lessons are all available here.
A blue letter day today! Our 1000th follower on Twitter! We need to make sure we keep reaching out to non-masonic men & women, though the Brotherly company is appreciated too. Thank you.
Do you know what's weird about Freemasonry? Nothing! We need to tell more men & women that simple message. And if they insist it IS weird... the truth is... we know and they don't.
A unique meeting next week. A shared 2nd Degree ceremony with our Daughter Lodge, Manor of Gillingham Lodge 3983. Great for our Brother being passed and perhaps a pattern for the future bring us together more often.
As in everything, we can loose our way. The connections we have built are stronger and wider, even crossing counties and continents. How wonderful it is for Brethren to dwell in unity.
Freemasonry is a life structure for those that want to see the light. A pathway for self investigation, improvement and acceptance. It never gives up on you because it becomes you... one and the same. It is priceless. It is Freemasonry Universal.
The first task is to renew the enthusiasm and Brotherly connection of existing members of the Lodge before even thinking about attracting new members. Get the house in order before welcome visitors start to arrive. And they will come.
Our meetings should all be worthwhile, meaningful & special for every Brother & guest in some way or other. If just 1 is only an appetiser for Festive Board, isn't it less than it could be? We need real engagement & the FB should be our lovingly made 'pointing' of the brickwork?
A great evening with @WhenceCameYou Robert Johnson tonight @lodgeob184. Thought provoking ideas on Masonic education & 'keeping the bar high' to bring added value to our Lodges & help them survive & thrive. It certainly stimulated grey cells here! Well done Robert!
On #WorldCancerDay#Freemasons are fighting back against the disease 👊
Did you know that in 2018, the @Masonic_Charity donated £143k to fund new research & £134k to support people affected by cancer?
Find out about this & other brilliant work here → https://t.co/zKEOKhaJ5n
We are thrilled to welcome Robert Johnson @WhenceCameYou to our Lodge meeting on Feb 12th. Knowledge & understanding is the cornerstone of Freemasonry and Robert brings them in spades! We can't wait for our 2nd transatlantic link-up.
Sherlock Holmes is one of our most famous and enduring literary characters 🕵 But did you know his creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was a Freemason?
#OnThisDay in 1887, Doyle was initiated into Phoenix Lodge No. 257 which still meets to this day in @HantsMason#FamousFreemasons
#Freemasonry values & ethics: #Morality. Freemasonry is fundamentally requires its members to believe in a higher power. We believe this requirement guarantees a sense of accountability for one’s actions.
