While on vacation, I had ample time to reflect on @meilisearch and consider ways to enhance its indexing speed. I documented the journey of the document indexer and its future prospects. https://t.co/TUHtcDqqQt
That's it! @meilisearch is finally using the latest version of its 271 dependencies 🎉 Thanks to @irevoire and the Rustls team for the work. How long will this last now? 😅
Join me, @ledoublegui, and @nicolasvienot for a live session tomorrow! We'll dive into the newest updates that make our search smarter and invite you to review the roadmap with us.

It is not the first time people using @meilisearch have been impressed by its speed. Last week, at least three folks publicly talked about it, and we see more and more of them talking about it. 🧵
Join our engineer @irevoire as he explains how he reduced indexing times & skyrocketed performance in our vector store using @rustlang

As a senior C++ engineer, this is a change I've been longing for.
People often tout C++'s flexibility, for me it's about its cohesiveness and productivity: you put double the effort, but you get half the results.
What C++ lacks in memory safety, it makes up for in job security
Starting next week, @meilisearch will switch its core engine from Rust to C++. After years of struggling with segfaults, out-of-bounds issues, and a complex package manager, the team decided that the Rust language still needed to reach its promise of being the successor of C++.
Hear me well 🔊 @irevoire published a blog post explaining how we update a million vector embeddings database in under a minute with Arroy: our port of the Spotify/Annoy vector store in Rust on top of LMDB for @meilisearch. And it runs in production! https://t.co/kztj7J5f2V
