Very proud of my student Rodrigo Ramalho (@praq_username) for earning 2nd place in the Undergraduate Prize at the Brazilian OR Conference! 🥈
I am grateful to @leandro_cc and J. Renaud for sharing the supervision, suggesting the topic, and hosting Rodrigo at @universitelaval.
Our members, Lara Pontes and Carlos Neves, were finalists in the INFORMS Undergraduate Operations Research Prize for their work “The Maximum Length Car Sequencing Problem”. Congratulations, Lara and Carlos!
Yesterday, Lara Pontes delivered a brilliant presentation at the INFORMS Conference Undergraduate Student Research Prize finalist session. She did a great job presenting her work entitled "The Maximum Length Car Sequencing Problem" and we are very proud of her!
It was a true pleasure to host Prof. Greet Vanden Berghe from @KU_Leuven at LASER-UFPB for the past two weeks! She quickly connected with our team through exciting research discussions and social activities. She also presented an insightful talk on Personnel Rostering.
The work of my outstanding students, Lara Pontes and Carlos Neves from Universidade Federal da Paraíba (@UFPBoficial), co-supervised by Maria Battarra (@Rainbow_Battarr) , is one of the 8 finalists for the highly prestigious @INFORMS Undergraduate Operations Research Prize! #orms
Yesterday, the wonderful students of our research group @log_ufpb surprised me for my 41st birthday at LASER-UFPB. I was really moved by this incredibly thoughtful gesture, and honestly, I couldn't ask for better company. What a dream team!
On Monday, Vitor Nesello (@vitornesello), CTO of Atoptima (@atoptima), delivered a brilliant talk to our group! Vitor has been with us since he was 17 and is now a great inspiration to all of our students. Vitor, we were thrilled to have you at LASER-UFPB!
Thank you, Matheus J. Ota (@m_ota), for giving us a great introduction to Two-Stage Stochastic Programming! We learned a lot from you.
Matheus is an extremely talented Brazilian PhD student at the University of Waterloo, working under the supervision of s.t. guest @rfukasawa!
Our article "Computing the worst-case due dates violations with budget uncertainty", co-authored by Igor Malheiros (@igormalheirosb), Artur Pessoa, Michaël Poss, and Anand Subramanian, has just been published in OR Letters!
Well done, Igor! We are really proud of your work! 😀
Last week, we were happy to welcome Brian Mao and Ethan Wang from InfinityQ (@infinityQtech) to LASER-UFPB! They presented a great seminar to our team, and our students also had the opportunity to share a bit of their research with them.
Extremely happy to reunite with my first generation of research students from UFPB 🤩! I can't thank them enough, not only for their brilliant work but also for their invaluable and loyal friendship. It’s not an overstatement to say they’ve become like a second family to me ❤️.
During her stay, Giulia collaborated with us in our lab and presented a seminar to our team. We also had a great time showing her some of our city's tourist attractions! We will miss you, Giulia, and we hope to see you again soon!
For the past several months, we had the privilege of hosting the fabulous Vinicius Loti de Lima as a postdoc. Now he will start a new chapter in his life, and I am sure he will continue to make us proud. Vinicius, you left a mark in our hearts, and you will be greatly missed.
