It’s cliche, but one of the things I learned quick after getting into media is how “normal” all these people the NBA world idolize really seem.

De’Aaron Fox was always the most glaring example to me.

In tonight’s postgame, he explained that it’s a conscious decision. “I try to be as normal as I possibly can,” Fox said.

People got on him years ago (after a tough loss) for essentially saying he doesn’t bring work home with him, but that remains true after scoring 109 points in 24 hours.

“Whenever I leave and go home, I’m Dad,” he said after Saturday’s win. “Whenever I hop on the game with my friends, I’m De’Aaron.”

“People in Sacramento have seen me out eating breakfast or dinner at places and I want that to kind of be normal. Like, if someone asks for a picture, that’s totally fine. If they ask for an autograph, that’s totally fine. But I try to make that as normal as I possibly can.”
