Student journalists deserve your respect even when they don't make national news. I was 19 years old doing a job that is still difficult for me at 24, and juggling school on top of it. The work they do is important whether it's breaking big news or covering a meeting.
Here is @onthemedia's guide for interviewing conspiracy theorists and other disinformers running for office.
The first one is by far the most important. And I'd go further: ask yourself why you're doing this— then share that answer with the rest of us.
Yes yes yes!
“We deserve the opportunity to share our voices fully, without restriction. As student journalists, we deserve more. More funding, more education, more workshops, more attention.”

Twitter’s owner is trying to establish his version of the truth. It won’t work. @NPR isn’t “state-affiliated media” — and we must reject this Orwellian revision.
Yesterday, @elonmusk’s Twitter labeled NPR “state-affiliated media,” even though the company’s own policy stated the organization shouldn’t be labeled as such because it has editorial independence (left).
Hours later, Twitter removed the reference to NPR in the policy (right).
Yep: “West Virginia demonstrates a few key lessons: that sheer persistence outweighs opposition, that appeals to common values triumph over political differences, and that finding individual champions—in the legislature, the student body, or elsewhere—is essential.”
Everybody say "Congratulations West Virginia!" 🥳🎉 Governor Jim Justice just signed the Student Journalist Press Freedom Protection Act, making West Virginia the 17th New Voices state! https://t.co/H7ykeyAZGw
