"We don’t just ask people to drive safely, we paint lines on the road and enforce speed limits. Similarly, we desperately need a societywide air quality strategy." https://t.co/GysgkmKuXD
When COVID hospitalizations are 6X higher now than the lowest point of the pandemic. When COVID still appears to be the #1 illness-related cause of hospitalizations. When COVID can harm vulnerable and frail patients…why are some hospitals are dropping mask mandates...now?
Statement on masking in healthcare: "While I believe that we should be taking public health measures to protect marginalized and vulnerable people in all settings, healthcare, of all places, should prioritize the health of medically vulnerable people." https://t.co/1nwEpZtgBL
Hi, I’m Sherrie and this is my daughter Ashley. We live in Canada and we refuse to accept that infections and reinfections are inevitable - we will continue do our utmost to break chains of transmission. What about you?

@DaliaHasanMD My daughter was informed that she must pay for and attend a gr 8 school breakfast even though she won't be unmasking to eat with her peers. How is this gr 8 school celebration event inclusive to everyone? It feels like discrimination: "ableism".
@DaliaHasanMD I would love to see more social support groups for vulnerable populations of all ages and circumstances. We need to increase meaningful social connections and improve belonging within an understanding and compassionate community. Improving mental health with social interaction.
My final article of the year is live NOW on my COVID-focused Substack, The Gauntlet.

We should dictate that people must wear masks in places where people have to be:
• Public Transportation
• Schools
• Work
• Grocery Stores
• Doctors' Offices, Hospitals & Pharmacies
• Post Offices & Other Government Services
• Polls
As a community we must protect all.
Professor @maxwellsmith Western U. Bioethicist and Public Health Expert is pointing the finger at the lack of information and public health messaging. Rightly he raises the tragedy with the current public health approach:

True story. When I heard I was "in a crappy [LA] coffee shop in a strip mall after an evening where people were yelling at me about misinformation. I was kind of at the end of my rope...”
I lost the need to confine myself to social norms in my teenage years, so I don’t mind being different, especially if it means I will remain healthy and participate in life. Wearing a high-quality mask is a privilege I am grateful to be able to afford for myself and my family.
As I prepare to leave my house, wearing a mask has become a cherished ritual. I gain so much meaning from this small act of caring for myself, my family and my community.
@MoriartyLab My 16 yo daughter's world has been turned upside down. She is a liver transplant recipient. As soon as the mask mandate dropped, despite individual responsibility, her environmental risk increased. The entitled choice of others is harming her health and wellbeing.
If you’ve been infected w #COVID despite using layered precautions, it’s a failure from our leaders
Leaving health decisions to personal choice weakens the public’s health
Clean air, 💉, 😷, & tests should be ubiquitous. This is what public health means in the midst of a pandemic
