What is his basis for saying the result does not meet expected standards? Is it because it didn’t confirm his suspected diagnosis? What if he was wrong with his suspected diagnosis? Or he presented an inappropriate sample?
I have encountered a number of such occurrences of wrong results and most of these arise from samples brought from the ward than patients walking into the lab themselves. This is because of poor sample taking procedures. These doctors still transfer samples from EDTA into SSTs, take samples for lipid profile at 10pm after patient ate at even 6pm, take a sample at 1am and then it arrives in the lab at 6am, taking samples from infused arms etc and when you reject samples because of the visible signs, they complain it was difficult to locate patients viens or sometimes lie to cover up. What about the non- visible signs like keeping a sample over 4hrs. The results would be wrong and when we call for a repeat and the results is different, it doesn’t mean we made a mistake in the beginning. The quality of results is dependent on the quality of samples produced. If there were enough MLS in our healthcare systems, we’ll advocate to come take all laboratory samples from the wards ourselves because we are better trained.
The MLS is capable of validating his/her results. There is therefore no need for any “laboratory physicians” as they call themselves in the laboratory space.

Every profession has its own branches.The is no need for lab physician. The MLS can validate their result.
