This Is Exactly Why So Many AUTISTIC PEOPLE SELF-DIAGNOSE.
Person: I’m autistic. I don’t have an official diagnosis.
Neurotypical person: You CAN’T do that!!! Only doctors can diagnose autism!!!
Okay but…
- Most doctors only learned what autism looks like in one group: nonverbal, white, little boys.
- Most doctors still recommend therapies that a lot of autistic people have called traumatic.
- Most doctors who do diagnose autism won’t even take adult patients.
- If you’re a teenager and want an evaluation, you need parents who believe autism isn’t a tragedy and who understand it looks different for everyone.
- If you’re an adult in the US, an eval costs thousands and insurance usually won’t touch it. In places like France it’s basically impossible to get.
- And having an official diagnosis on paper can be used against you. People have lost custody. People have been institutionalized because of it.
Meanwhile, AUTISTIC-LED organizations like ASAN, AWN, AANE actually say this:
"Getting diagnosed is a personal choice. You don’t need a paper to be one of us. If you relate, you’re welcome here."
A sincere self-diagnosis doesn’t hurt anyone.
Even if you’re wrong, the worst case is you learned more about yourself.
Best case? You find community, you understand yourself, you stop feeling broken. For so many of us, that’s where self-acceptance starts.
The problem isn’t people "faking it."
The problem is the system made getting help impossible, expensive, and sometimes dangerous.
Self-diagnosis isn’t the finish line. But for a lot of us, it’s the only door that was open.
China scanning private messages - bad, evil, dystopian, mass surveillance
EU scanning private messages - good, protecting children, necessary, nothing to worry about
One of the cruelest things about being an undiagnosed autistic kid...
You don't grow up thinking,
I'm autistic.
You grow up thinking,
There's something wrong with me that everyone else can see.
Am autistic. Will take things literally. If I’m told I need all 10, I better not just have all 10, but also feel heavily confident in my ability to do all 10, otherwise I’ll think it’s not good enough to attempt to try.
We seal envelopes not because the letter contains a conspiracy, but because the contents belong exclusively to the sender and the receiver.
The "nothing to hide" argument is pure corporate/state propaganda. Privacy isn't about hiding a crime; it's about deciding who gets access to your life. It’s a boundary of power, not a shield for guilt.
Autism on TV:
I bluntly insult someone, they get upset, and I double down arguing why their feelings are “illogical” instead of just saying sorry.
Autism in real life:
A friend hasn’t replied in 3 days so I’m replaying every single conversation we’ve ever had like a detective, convinced I said something rude and they secretly hate me forever. 😭
Being neurodivergent with a genuinely kind heart is realizing not everyone thinks or acts in good faith. You’ll be shocked by how deliberate some people can be when it comes to hurting you, and it’s very sad because it’ll never cross your mind to hurt someone.
BREAKING:
The EU is planning to require a passport to access the internet.
And they want to block VPNs to enforce it.
"The new age verification system cannot be bypassed via VPN."
Read that again.
A digital passport. For the internet.
Enforced by blocking the tools that protect your privacy.
This is what the trajectory looks like.
- Cash banned above €10,000.
- Bitcoin requires ID above €1,000.
- Privacy coins banned.
- MiCA eliminating 90% of crypto firms.
And now internet access tied to your identity.
With VPN circumvention specifically blocked.
Every layer of digital privacy.
Being dismantled one regulation at a time.
While America debates zero capital gains on Bitcoin.
Europe is building a system where every click, every transaction, every website visit.
Is tied to your passport.
This is not consumer protection.
This is digital authoritarianism.
And they're not hiding it anymore.
Being conventionally attractive and neurodivergent I realized that people like the "idea of you" but as soon as you show intense traits they get scared.
Depression isn’t always falling apart.
Sometimes it’s:
Doing the bare minimum.
Avoiding everyone.
Letting your space get messy.
Not replying because you don’t have the energy to pretend.
Wanting everyone to leave you alone.
Not because you hate them.
Because you’re barely holding yourself together.
Because you’re fucking exhausted.

Do not post images of grids (I suggest not at all unless you have to) anywhere in Discord.

I just read a really disheartening study on why Autistics do so poorly at keeping jobs.
It's not because we aren't skilled
And it's *not* because we don't understand social situations or we communicate too directly
It's bc we get targeted for harassment and abuse! This has been my literal experience.
The study said it's not a character flaw- it's a design in the system. Workplaces are set up as Legitimacy hierarchies
And if you're neurodivergent you automatically lack Legitimacy.
Rockstar reportedly told Sony to remove GTA VI's branding from the PlayStation App after the disc controversy got too hot
Sony killed physical discs for all PlayStation games starting January 2028.
The backlash was instant.
Politicians calling for regulation. KFC and Domino's publicly roasting them. The internet turned on Sony overnight.
A week ago Sony had GTA VI everywhere.
App icon changed. PS5 dashboard taken over. Store completely redesigned. No PlayStation game has ever gotten that treatment.
Now all of it is quietly gone.
When Rockstar doesn't want to be associated with your decisions you know it's bad.
