In September, @anisp27 and @AudeNoiray will present recent work on the developing relation between speech production and reading fluency in German children at AMLaP conference in Paris. @unipotsdam#readingacquisition#languageacquisition

In her PhD, Stella Krüger investigated dev. diff. in anticipatory perception. She found child & adult listeners assigned greater weight to the magnitude of change in the acoustic signal than to the amount of vocalic info spread throughout a sequence.

Congratulation Dzhuma Abakarova to be accepted at the tough-to-get-in @TheBUCLD ! She will present findings from her PhD project combining empirical data with computing simulations to decipher differences in articulatory strategies btw children & adults. https://t.co/MG1UBCYTvc

Very happy that @dejidde and I received the Aletta Health Grant! 🥳 We will use this grant to create a booklet for individuals with Parkinson’s disease, to help them better understand the speech problems they face. 📒 @SLG_UG@AlettaJacobsSPH
New child study using #MEG found age-related differences in speech tracking for words and sentences in the brain.

Measurements of speech articulation have become essential to understand the (a)typical development of spoken language. We introduce SOLLAR, a platform for the recording/processing of kinematic data in children. @LOLA_labo@unipotsdam@UQAM@haskinslabs https://t.co/uJtMH6jz5G
Anticipation is ubiquitous in speech as it is in many motor activities (writing, playing piano...).In this study, Elina Rubertus instead compared carryover mechanism in the speech of 62 German children and 13 adults, using ultrasound tongue imaging.
Children's phonological awareness tightly interacts with the articulatory organisation of their speech! Greater phonemic awareness associated with greater differentiation of articulatory gestures for indiv consonants and vowels. @unipotsdam@FrontPsychol

Super excited to announce that my #rstats textbook is scheduled to come out in just about a few weeks!! You can already pre-order it on Amazon. Check out a description of the book's approach on my webpage: https://t.co/wm6uZXv0rv
We recently presented our research addressing the relation between phonological awareness and speech production in young children at @DDL_Laboratoire. Thank you for your enthusiasm and insightful feedback! @unipotsdam@LOLA_labo
(2) In the framework of her PhD, Elina Rubertus examined to what extent vowels carry over their influence in the span of utterances. Her findings have now been submitted for publication. Stay tuned @unipotsdam#ultrasound
(1) Much empirical research has been conducted on vocalic anticipation in children's speech, as an interface between planning and production mechanisms. But few studies have looked beyond vowels' acoustically defined temporal domain.
@dialect@RF_Oxbury Our annotated kidLUCID corpus including diapix recordings for 96 speakers aged 9 to 14 is fully available for research purposes at https://t.co/6YPRdsUkd4 . We really hope this corpus will be used for further studies. #diapixUK#SHaPS_UCL#uklvc12
Jay Rueckl and I are looking for a postdoc to work on computational modeling of human speech recognition. We are working on bridging the gap between cognitive models and state-of-the-art deep learning models for automatic speech recognition. Details: https://t.co/LzYd015Yrk
