@lalovestrump You know who we never hear from? The advocates of those with disabilities. The ADA (Americans with disabilities act) hammered businesses to comply by making sure their establishments were accessible for wheelchairs... What about our sidewalks, blocked or too dangerous to walk on
Let’s face it. Far too many third-world immigrants think America means free stuff. Not assimilation. Not loyalty. Not the flag, the language, or the country that took them in. Just free stuff.
That is not the America earlier generations of legal immigrants built. They assimilated. They started businesses. They raised families. They became some of our most patriotic citizens because they knew what this country gave them—and what the tyranny they fled would have taken from them. They earned their place. They didn’t come to cash in on it.
Today is different. Too many arrive expecting the benefits without the bargain.
America is our home. It is not a global welfare office. Protect it.
SAW AND HEARD THE FUTURE. I AIN’T TOO BRIGHT.
So I was on patrol. Spent the first part of my shift backing my fellow officers on calls. While at these locations, I could hear the frustration in the voice of the managers of these buildings as squatters and dealers enter and exit at will. Understaffed, it’s challenging to respond to all their concerns like years before, defunding and the anti police era that did so much damage.
When I finally had a free moment, I drove to the area the Historic Core. There, a young man pulled down his pants and took a dump just off the curb. He didn’t care that I was there. He just did it. “you can’t criminalize someone for a natural bodily function.” That’s what the advocates say. Then again, what good would it do citing a homeless/mentally ill man. I gave him a good talking to. He agreed to clean it up. I stopped at the light where I just sat shaking my head. Couldn’t get too mad, just a few blocks east was a burned out porta-potty. The 90s seems to be coming back.
I drove south where it appeared briefly that I was making a difference with some of the narcotics loitering. I spun the block again 15 minutes later. It was clear that some “harm reduction” folks distributed some “harm reduction tools” when I drove away. I thought they were supposed to stop doing that. The crowd was back. So there I was engaged in ‘death prevention”… again.
Some buildings I had graffiti removed from just three days ago, were once again covered in crude, nonsensical tagging. One I could understand clearly. A gang was trying to send a message, reminding everyone whose block it was.
After clearing the block again, I went the the east side of the row. As I’m driving down a small street, a frail woman I met the week prior, we shall call “T” frantically called to me, “Joseph! Stop Please!” I stopped and backed up my shop (patrol car). She ran to my window yelling “These mutha fvckas took my shoes again while I was sleep Joseph!”
I replied “Again? That’s the third time!” “They took them right off my feet Joseph. I ain’t got nothin’ and they still take that too!” She started to cry. I looked down and sure enough, she was barefoot on a street covered in God knows what. I asked her to tell me who. She didn’t know. I do not talk about the things I do to help people, just know she was taken care of.
The rest of the day was hearing sirens blaring from patrol cars and ambulances. After a while, you couldn’t even tell which from which as they blended together in a dark harmonious drawn out wailing.
Then I saw a two women, who asked me about housing. I just received a text the a couple of days ago that there were two spots available. I got excited. Maybe I could see a bit of hope today. When I called the people about the spots, they advised they were taken already. Two women who in my opinion, desperately needed housing, could not be helped today. All I could do was pray that another opportunity would come for them soon. That’s one of the downsides of taking a day off. You end up a dollar short in changing the trajectory of someone’s life.
I thought to myself, “We are just a bandaid now.” Then I saw some potential news that let me know this city is about to take a dark turn if the voters make the wrong choice. And that choice is more than likely going to make another horrible choice. If folks think it’s bad now, just you wait.
It’s going to be the late 90s to early 2000s all over again for sure.
I’m almost done. I didn’t want to leave this place the way I found it. But until people wake up, all I can do is the best I can. Even if it isn’t enough. I’ve walked through Dante’s inferno before. Guess I have to end my career there.
People don’t become angels when they die.
Humans are humans, and angels are angels. This remains so even in eternity. In fact, angels are intrigued by the interaction between God and His “image-bearing” humans (1 Peter 1:12).
It’s actually better for you to be human than it is for you to be an angel. Humans can experience God’s forgiveness, grace, and have His Spirit living inside of them. Angels, as amazing as they are, can’t claim any of those things.
Here is our ultimate hope: when a loved one dies knowing Jesus as Lord and Savior, God does not gain another angel. Rather, God calls another worshipper to come home.
Gentle words will not save a dying world.
People are perishing, and they still demand a gentle message.
They want a gospel that never cuts and a Christ who never names the dark.
Jesus did not come to flatter sinners.
He said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12
Light does not ask the dark for permission.
It exposes what people try to hide.
Speak the truth in love.
Love does not stay silent while a soul walks toward death.
"Speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ." Ephesians 4:15
If you love someone, you will not smile while they die in their sin.
You will warn them.
You will name the darkness.
You will call them to repent and trust Christ.
Stop softening the word so the world will like you.
The hour is late.
Open your mouth.
Let the light of Christ shine.
Turn from the dark and obey our living God. 🙌
Will you speak the truth, or will you stay quiet and call your silence love?
I Would Not Say the Shahada
When I came to Christ, I hid it. Only a handful of people I trusted knew.
Then a cousin I trusted sold me.
They went to my mother first. She cried from shame. She thought they were lying, jealous, she said, because I was doing well at school. She wanted to prove them wrong.
They gathered at my aunt’s house. Family gatherings were normal. I walked in thinking it was just another day.
The air was wrong. Every face in the room was on me.
“Are you still a Muslim or did you become a Nasrani?”
I laughed. Tried to turn it into a joke. It died in the room.
My mother was holding back tears. “Just say the Shahada. Prove them wrong.”
A few seconds. They felt like a year. On one side: my mother’s face. On the other: the truth.
I chose the truth.
“Mom, I can’t.”
Then the room broke.
See? We told you. Yelling. Spitting. Go to those Christians. Let them feed you. You are a shame to your father.
My mother sobbing.
I went numb. The noise fell behind me like a film I was no longer in. I walked out with nowhere to go. The world I knew had collapsed, not because I had become a criminal, but because I had left Islam.
That is what apostasy is in that world. Not a change of mind. A public execution of your name. In some places a physical execution as well, thankfully mine was not the case.
Leaving Islam is a rebirth. You get your lungs back. You get your mind back. You get your humanity back.
If I had said the Shahada that day, I would have bought peace with a lie. I would have stayed a slave to the crowd, safe, loved, and dead inside.
I remembered the words of Jesus:
“What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?”
I lost the room. I kept myself.
The thief on the cross had no time to build a religious resume.
No baptism.
No ministry.
No lifetime of good works.
He had Christ. And Christ was enough.
I was not quiet when I lived in sin.
I will not be quiet now that I am born again.
If you used to advertise your rebellion, you have no right to hide your repentance.
A man who once shouted his filth has no justification for whispering the name of Jesus.
Jesus said it plain.
Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. John 3:3
The old life is dead.
The new life must speak.
If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things are passed away. Behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17
Do not bury what God raised.
Speak it.
Live it.
Obey it.
The narrow road is not a secret.
Walk it out loud!
