In anticipation & celebration of @taylorswift13’s #TorturedPoets release, my ELA colleague created “The Tortured Poets Department: Mrs. Gildersleeve’s Version” bulletin board with some educated guesses on poet & poem connections based on song titles alone!
Every assessment I do is accompanied by a learning memo where the student explains how they demonstrated the learning.
1⃣ It supports me when assessing
2⃣It ensures students reflect on learning
3⃣It serves as a barrier to AI replacing learning

It makes me sad when a teacher assistant says “I’m just a para” when they introduce themselves to me…we CANNOT do our jobs without support staff. They are the backbones of our schools. No one is “just” anything on your staff. Make sure your support staff feel encouraged & loved.
