@nick_coatsworth Lol, you're conflating general investment with renewables investment - better to make a comparison of all the grants and incentives available locally for renewable investment with the tax benefit for overseas renewable investment. Do you have any numbers available for that?
@FinancialReview I can't read your article, but I'm sure it more than amply covers all the grants and incentives available to local investors in renewables, far more effective at helping manage upfront capital spend and operational risk for large projects than some possible future tax reduction.
@navexaau This only defers your capital gains, not reduce it. Plus it assumes you bought some of the shares at a higher rate than you sold them. And that you don't sell all the shares. In fact, in some circumstances this might cost someone more over the full period of holding the shares.
@KJV_Cat Lol, first of all, people are not pissed off, actually they find this both hilarious and sad at the same time. The problem is not the conservativism, but, well, I guess it's his ability to 'think for himself' that's equally sad and funny at the same time.
@biglibertyguy@DogmatixTheGaul@pwwit1 Spoken like someone who has never truly had to choose between getting new tyres for the family car or putting money away for a pension that month.
@JustOz61 Lol, having been around a bit longer than them, you could have let them know that interest rates were at an unheard of historic low, so we're in all likelihood going to increase over the next decade or two. Sigh...
