@migzabelle@KemiBadenoch@joenutt_author I agree but if these results are used to prove that her super strict approach works bc performance is higher than other state schools that require triple science and 10 subjects per pupil there is a problem. You need to compare like for like if you want to copy paste her methods.
🚨VAT on schools - consultation announced🚨
The Government has published a consultation on its plans to add 20% VAT to school fees making them unaffordable for many hardworking families.
In Surrey Heath constituency:
📚 There are 833 pupils in 6 independent schools.
🧑🏫 Of these, 231 pupils get support for special educational needs, or a disability (SEND)
👩🏫 131 of these pupils – 57% – get this support without an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP)
💷 Their families will be charged VAT under current plans
296 pupils attend 3 small Christian schools.

These plans will put huge pressure on our state schools and reduce the options for children with special educational needs.
This change is also being made exceptionally quickly with no option to plan. Short term this could cause disruption to children’s education (in both independent and state schools) mid year.
Longer term this could force schools to close putting even more burden on the state sector.
Furthermore this penalises hard working families who scrimp and save to send thier children to independent schools.
The answer to education funding is NOT to impose a pernicious tax on schools, especially those which cater for special needs.
I would advise all those who may be affected to review the plans and submit their response to the consultation.
I’m working with colleagues across the county and nationally to evaluate any response or challenge.

@CruddasKathleen@KemiBadenoch@joenutt_author The DoE website lists average of 7.1 subjects taken per student. The minority subjects taken by a small number instead of French etc.

Now we are just working on policy rather than politics it is time to move on from “by ending tax breaks for private schools”, which has been in every statement for months now. A new tax on education in some schools is being introduced from scratch - there was never a tax break
The easiest way to succeed in maths is to get comfortable with it being hard.
If you can’t get started at all you might need to ask for help.
But once you know the goal, if you realise you’re meant to get stuck then you’ll stay focused for longer.
The optimal state of mind for maths is ‘constructive confusion’.
My 4-year-old was asking about childbirth and asked, “did it hurt?”
As I was giving my carefully considered answer about how, “yes it did but it was worth it,” she interrupted, “no. I mean, did it hurt *me*? Did I get a plaster?”
