Game developer in my spare time. Recently released ✨Enigmarble✨ and currently working on a 3D strategy game! Sharing work in progress and my gamedev experience!
@Lore_Morini Looks great! Read the post and am very curious: You generate a mesh that corresponds to the 3D grid, then subdivide and smooth it. Won't that mean that ground tiles will "stick out"? Also I'm very curious what you mean with "vertices hiding inside the tile" when explored?
First attempts at #unity UI Toolkit! No focus on design/visuals, just the practical bits: dynamically generating content, templates, events, multiple dialogs, custom tooltips and inventory drag and drop. Having a blast and loving this UI system!😍
I've been taking a break for the last few weeks - playing #Minecraft and relaxing. But now I'm excited to get back to #gamedev! Planning to dive right in and teach myself #Unity UI Toolkit 🤔
@OskSta Looks awesome! How did you do the fog - is it a single mesh? Looks like it dynamically deforms (upwards) whenever there's a mountain - like it's wrapping around the terrain?
@KenneyNL I would absolutely love it if you made a "loot" icon - like a sack - when hovering over e.g. a killed enemy that has loot for you! I use several of your cursors in my game already, but missing this one! 😍
Invested in an amazing grass shader and a water shader - it really makes a difference! Also different grass/flowers based on biome! 🌿
Making my first devlog 🎥 on this game to finally show it to the public - a bit scary😵💫

Replacing cubes with nice 3D assets with some animations made prototyping my game feel so much nicer and more alive! Next up: Trees, player, dialogs.. Oh dear... 😅

Break from procedural gen, working on more gameplay: Added building and day/night🌓 system! Lots of ideas for night time, but disappointed in the range lights have in URP (without overexposing the center). If anyone has ideas, please shout out!

First attempt on biome #procedural generation - affecting ground textures! Still early WIP. Am also looking into weighting resource spawning based on biome. Honestly having a lot of fun experimenting! 🤩

Spent the last week fighting corrupted Unity files, including inside my current projects 😢 By coincidence my new PC (left) arrived yesterday (did my old PC know?!) Spent the day setting it up and really happy my projects are just fine! Back to business! 🤩

Another #procedural experiment: Vertex painting. Created and vertex painted ground meshes in Blender, and created a shader that blends between textures in Unity. Worked well, but missed the capability of having more than 4 textures!🤔
