Sad to hear about the passing of great Latvian author Nora Ikstena who I once interviewed in London. 🇱🇻
Her excellent novel "Soviet Milk" made such a big impact upon me! Here I discuss the book while making my family's Latvian bacon & onion roll recipe: https://t.co/40Xtv87rFn
Here are my favourite books that I read in 2025: https://t.co/0uI4YLH1tQ
From Patrick Ryan to Arundhati Roy to @JoyceCarolOates to Torrey Peters, these stories left a big impact upon me and I keep recommending them to other readers.
@JoyceCarolOates I've not seen "Hamnet" yet but I'm looking forward to it especially due to Jessie Buckley - she's appeared in several film adaptations of literary novels and narrated the audio books for some of Dickens' work. An excellent actress!
@fultufaltu@JoyceCarolOates When beginning to read Oates I'd suggest starting with her novel "The Gravedigger's Daughter" - I made a short video about it here:

On a recent trip to America I found a first edition of @JoyceCarolOates “Mysteries of Winterthurn” in a used bookshop. Now I’m thrilled to have original copies of her superb Gothic Saga novels all together! 📚
