"The original plans were to take the whole village out."
Harmondsworth's medieval barn, church, and the pubs, which are centuries old, would all dissappear in one foul swoop. But, even with alterations to the plan, any surviving buildings, like the community itself, would still die.
If you wouldn't mind, please repost this clip and/or the original (full length video) attached to help highlight not only this tragic case, but the many others that we've yet to hear about.

Former astronaut Ron Garan returned from space convinced that humanity is “living an enormous lie.”
During his 178-day mission aboard the International Space Station in 2011, spending nearly six months in orbit and covering over 71 million miles, Garan experienced the transformative “Overview Effect.” From 250 miles above Earth, the planet appeared as a single, delicate blue marble suspended in the void, with no visible borders, nations, or divisions. Political lines vanished; instead, he saw a fragile, interconnected biosphere wrapped in an astonishingly thin atmosphere, the sole protective layer sustaining all life against the deadly vacuum of space.
This perspective shattered his prior worldview. He observed an iridescent, teeming world of life but no trace of the global economy that humans prioritize. Garan realized the “enormous lie” we perpetuate: the illusion that we are separate from one another, from nature, and from the planet itself. Our systems treat the Earth’s life-support mechanisms, air, water, ecosystems, as mere subsidiaries of the economy, when the orbital view reveals the opposite truth: the planet comes first, then society, then economy.
In his words, this realization highlighted how crises like climate change, deforestation, and biodiversity loss stem from this fundamental misperception of separation. Garan argues that embracing this unified, fragile reality, seeing ourselves as crew members on “Spaceship Earth”, is essential for collective survival and effective global stewardship. The view from space didn’t just change his outlook; it underscored an urgent call for humanity to realign priorities with the undeniable interconnectedness of our shared home.

He survived the hospital, checked into rehab, and put his head down.
Today? He graduated from OSU with straight A’s and a degree in tech.
The system can't save anyone who doesn't want it. The door to change is always there, but you have to walk through it yourself.

I'm Eddie - I am looking for new, loving home, could it be you? I'm 11 months old, full of life, love and still learning. I am a mixed breed Spaniel, Lab & Shepherd.
Eddie came to his present owners, from a home as a puppy with four children aged 2-10 where he still goes for sleepovers. His owner feels Eddie would be best suited to a younger family.
Due to his owners poor health, they have had to make this heart breaking decision to have to rehome Eddie.
Eddie is a loving, loyal, faithful & friendly companion, who loves dogs, cats, children and everyone he meets.
He is micro chipped, registered with the vet, he has no medical problems, his last check up with the vet was July, after being neutered.
Eddie is house trained, loves being out in the garden to play, he will need an enclosed garden. He loves his toys.
Eddie loves long walks, his recall is excellent, he is good on the lead, however is very strong, he will need a strong hand and may need some more training on the lead. Because he is so strong children would not be able to take him for walks, may pull a child over.
Eddie doesn't like being alone so he would need a stay at home human in his new family. He is great in the car, however he needs to be fed more than an hour before a journey.
He has half a tin of Butchers Choice of a morning, with a sprinkle of grated cheese, then his dry food added, (likes most dry foods) also partial to treats.
Eddie does tend to jump up at people when first meeting them, this is only for attention, getting patted and made a fuss of. Eddie is gentle, funny and such a loving dog, his owners states " Who ever gets him is getting a great dog, who is smart, handsome and full of love."
Eddie sleeps on his owners bed, or where ever he wants. He will steal socks and the cats food any chance he gets.
If you think Eddie would fit into your family please email [email protected] for more information.
Sorry we are unable to accept messages to the page or enquiries in comments, please email the address for any enquiries.
Eddie was added to our website this morning at 9.30am.
I can’t sit any longer. My back is seizing up but I’ve managed to do some work this one, but it’ll have to wait until another day for completion. #art#drawing#dogs
