Journalist mum wife Italian..not necessarily in that order! PhD researcher impact of intimidation and SLAPPs on investigative journalists @sunderlanduni
We have issued a joint statement with @NCTJ_news, @BJTC_UK, MeCCSA, and the @PPA_Live, calling on the government to reverse planned cuts to journalism course funding in higher education. Read our open letter on the link below ⬇️ https://t.co/imdiIrzlrI
Huge congrats @TBIJ for successfully fighting off this case. The article in question is still online, but its taken 2 years, vasts amounts of ££, time + other resources, all of which could have gone on more excellent investigative reporting. The #UK needs an Anti-#SLAPP Law ASAP.
Emotional day on so many levels. Thank you @carolinereith and @SheilaSq85 for raising awareness on researchers’ wellbeing. Looking forward to furthering these discussions with such a wonderful group of researchers!
So many takeaways at today’s excellent symposium about increasing researcher wellbeing. Fantastic keynote from Dr. Sheila Quaid and papers from ECR’s, PGR’s and established researchers. Looking forward to disseminating our recommendations to @UoSResearch@DrAmyPearson@longoflint
Investigative journalism, @zseward says, "is actually the area where I see the most immediate and powerful applications of AI in journalism". Encouraging to see an emphasis on leveraging tech for some of the most important (and difficult+time-consuming) news work #ReutersMOMENTUM

Our third talk of this panel is from @longoflint and John Price from @sunderlanduni on empowering the next generation of investigative journalists through education, training them in developing resilience, conducting data analysis and understanding open source intelligence
